Anderson took offense \u2014 and his manager, Tony La Russa, as well as his teammates believed that Donaldson\u2019s comments were racially motivated. The two teams nearly fought later in the game when Donaldson came up to bat. After a review, MLB announced on Monday that Donaldson would be suspended and would be forced to pay an undisclosed fine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMLB has completed the process of speaking to the individuals involved in this incident,\u201d the league <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/press-release\/press-release-mlb-disciplines-yankees-josh-donaldson-on-may-23-2022\">said<\/a> in a statement. \u201cThere is no dispute over what was said on the field. Regardless of Mr. Donaldson\u2019s intent, the comment he directed toward Mr. Anderson was disrespectful and in poor judgment, particularly when viewed in the context of their prior interactions. In addition, Mr. Donaldson\u2019s remark was a contributing factor in a bench-clearing incident between the teams, and warrants discipline.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, Anderson told reporters after the game that Donaldson\u2019s were \u201cunnecessary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe just made a disrespectful comment,\u201d Anderson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/benches-clear-after-yankees-third-baseman-accused-of-making-racist-comment-against-chicago-white-sox-shortstop\">said<\/a> after the game. \u201cBasically he was trying to call me Jackie Robinson. \u2018What\u2019s up, Jackie?\u2019 I don\u2019t play like that. I don\u2019t really play at all. I wasn\u2019t really going to bother nobody today, but he made the comment and, you know, it was disrespectful, and I don\u2019t think it was called for. It was unnecessary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>White Sox manager Tony La Russa slammed Donaldson for the remark.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe made a racist comment, Donaldson, and that\u2019s all I\u2019m going to say.
