Pool reports show that President Joe Biden often attends evening masses at the parish as well.<\/p>\n<p>It is not immediately clear which priest at Holy Trinity gave Pelosi communion.<\/p>\n<p>None of the Jesuit priests on staff at Holy Trinity, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/politics\/archive\/2021\/02\/joe-biden-catholic-communion-abortion\/618067\/\">described<\/a> as \u201ca parish of the powerful,\u201d responded to requests for comment from The Daily Wire.<\/p>\n<p>The parish website <a href=\"https:\/\/trinity.org\/lgbtqia-ministry\/\">advertises<\/a> a June 15 \u201cPride Mass,\u201d and highlights a video of a gay man, who says he is married to a man, though the Catholic Church <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scborromeo.org\/ccc\/p3s2c2a6.htm\">teaches that marriage<\/a> should only be between a man and a woman and that \u201cunder no circumstances\u201d will the church approve homosexual acts.<\/p>\n<p>The church\u2019s pastor, the Reverend C. Kevin Gillespie,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.americamagazine.org\/faith\/2021\/07\/02\/joe-biden-communion-holy-trinity-pastor-240967\">has previously said<\/a> that he would give communion to Biden, the most pro-abortion president in United States history often\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/02\/02\/media-biden-devout-catholic-liberal-ideology\/\">described<\/a> by his staff and the liberal media as a \u201cdevout Catholic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone is welcome,\u201d Gillespie said of Biden in an interview with America Magazine, a liberal Catholic outlet. \u201cHe\u2019s a man of faith, and I would give Communion to him like any other Catholic coming up for the Eucharist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s really an encounter with God,\u201d Gillespie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/politics\/archive\/2021\/02\/joe-biden-catholic-communion-abortion\/618067\/\">separately told The Atlantic<\/a>, saying that receiving communion is a \u201csacred and intimate moment\u201d for pro-abortion Biden, a \u201cgift that enhances his faith, and it energizes his witness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe most certainly encourage him to improve his intimacy with God through the Eucharist,\u201d Gillespie told the publication.<\/p>\n<p>The Holy Trinity pastor, who\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/jesuits.georgetown.edu\/gillespie\/\">formerly served<\/a> as\u00a0president of Saint Joseph\u2019s University, associate provost of the Chicago-based Loyola University, and as an assistant professor in the Department of Pastoral Care and<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>House Speaker Nancy Pelosi appears to have defied her archbishop\u2019s order not to receive Holy Communion in light of her pro-abortion stances and advocacy.
