Kirk said that there has always been \u201csome nut job telling me about the end of the world\u201d throughout his 25-year career in financial services.<\/p>\n<p>One of his presentation slides said, \u201cUnsubstantiated, shrill, partisan, self-serving, apocalyptic warnings are ALWAYS wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>HSBC CEO Noel Quinn denounced Kirk\u2019s remarks in a LinkedIn <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/8e1a16ea-bf63-45f8-81af-dc41c0df4e06\">post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do not agree \u2014 at all \u2014 with the remarks made at last week\u2019s FT Moral Money Summit. They are inconsistent with HSBC\u2019s strategy and do not reflect the views of the senior leadership of HSBC or HSBC Asset Management,\u201d Quinn wrote. \u201cOur ambition is to be the leading bank supporting the global economy in the transition to net zero. I hope my colleagues, customers and others will all know, from our work and my public comments, that HSBC is absolutely committed to a net zero future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven our global reach and capabilities we have an obligation to lead,\u201d he continued. \u201cI want HSBC to be a leader in supporting our clients, the finance sector and others through the massive transformation that\u2019s needed to build a better future.
