The can features the artwork from the band\u2019s classic 1976 album titled \u201c2112,\u201d along with the tagline\u00a0\u201cBooks are for tourists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s not the slogan they wanted to use.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDid you know the phrase \u2018Drinking beer is better than being hit in the head with a hammer\u2019 can\u2019t be put on a beer can?\u201d Lee said in the interview. \u201cMe neither. But that\u2019s a no-no. We did ask.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The marketing plan was a match and the beer is good, Lee said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRush fans like beer,\u201d he said. \u201cHendersons approached us during the pandemic and said, \u2018If you\u2019re interested, then we\u2019ll send 15 beers to you and Alex. You can taste them and give us your notes.\u2019 They came back with this golden ale, and we said, \u2018F\u2014, we like it!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The band officially retired in 2018 when drummer Neil Peart quit for health reasons. Peart died in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Lee said he and Lifeson were glad the band, which sold out arenas around the world in the 1970s and 1980s, had a rebirth they refer to as \u201cRush 2.0\u201d\u00a0after a <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/robert-plant-helped-rush-geddy-lee\/\">five-year hiatus<\/a> following the death of Peart\u2019s daughter in 1997.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat first tour back as a band, different world,\u201d Lee said. \u201cWe took a different attitude on that tour; we were much more open and appreciative of the opportunity. Five years away from it took a lot of cynicism out of our behavior.
