So I think the election this fall is going to be about inflation. It\u2019s going to be about the effectiveness of the Biden administration. And I think it bodes well for Republicans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brennan challenged Scott, citing the CBS poll, which showed Republicans with just a 2-point advantage in trust to handle inflation.<\/p>\n<p>Scott responded by pointing out steps Republicans would take to bring down costs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to balance the budget. We\u2019re going to start watching the dollars very closely. We\u2019re going to watch our spending. We are going to, you know, expect the Federal Reserve to reduce their balance sheet,\u201d Scott said.<\/p>\n<p>Brennan then pivoted toward questions about election integrity, claiming that \u201cmany\u201d Republican candidates are talking about \u201crelitigating the 2020 election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Scott dismissed those allegations, instead pointing out that voters are more concerned that elections are conducted fairly and that their votes are not diluted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs I go around the country and talk to people, what they\u2019re hoping is that Republicans will make sure that\u2013 there\u2019s voter I.D., there\u2019s no ballot harvesting, signatures have to match. And that\u2019s what when I talk to people, that\u2019s what they care about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Asked by Brennan about the push to gradually end imports from China in Scott\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/rescueamerica.com\/steps\/6-government-reform-debt\/\">Rescue America<\/a>\u201d plan, Scott also stressed the need to decouple from China.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, I think what we\u2019ve got to do is we\u2019ve got- we\u2019ve got to figure out how to decouple from China, and it\u2019s going to take a while to do that,\u201d Scott said. \u201cBut if you look at what they want to do, they\u2019re sending fentanyl in this country. We had over 100,000 people die of drug overdose last year. They never comply with any trade agreements, they\u2019ve never complied with the [World Trade Organization]. So, what we\u2019ve got to do is we got to start building American jobs. We\u2019ve got to get American manufacturing back. And when we do that one, our wages will go up, we\u2019ll have more jobs in this country. People want to buy American products and there\u2019s other countries to do business with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brennan also asked about Scott\u2019s plan to review all federal legislation after five years, including Medicare and Social Security spending. Scott defended his plan, saying that the federal government needs to be transparent with the American people and reign in the costs of the programs, as Medicare is projected to become insolvent in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/09\/12\/democrats-aim-to-expand-medicare-despite-looming-trust-fund-insolvency.html\">2026<\/a> and Social Security in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/social-security\/report\/social-security-39-billion-deficit-2014-insolvent-2035\">2035<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have got to be honest with the American people and come up with solutions,\u201d said Scott. \u201cI believe in those programs and people rely on those programs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe ought to be honest with the American people,\u201d Scott added. \u201cHere\u2019s the things we\u2019re going to do to make sure you get your Medicare, make sure you get your Social Security. So I will never raise a tax.
