The delivery is the first of two shipments of Operation Fly Formula, which will transport 246 pallets of baby formula, enough to fill 1.5 million eight-ounce bottles, according to the <u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/05\/19\/biden-administration-approves-first-operation-fly-formula-mission\/\">White House.<\/a><\/u> <\/p>\n<p><b><u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/healthcare\/pediatrician-pleads-with-parents-not-to-make-baby-formula-at-home-amid-shortage\">PEDIATRICIAN PLEADS WITH PARENTS NOT TO MAKE BABY FORMULA AT HOME AMID SHORTAGE<\/a><\/u><\/b> <\/p>\n<p>The first flights this weekend will deliver Nestle\u2019s Alfamino Infant and Alfamino Junior formula, with shipments of Gerber Good Start Extensive HA formula expected \u201cin the coming days,\u201d <u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/us-policy\/2022\/05\/21\/baby-formula-imports-abbott-wic\/\">officials said<\/a><\/u>. <\/p>\n<p>The worsening shortage of baby formula, the primary source of nutrition for many infants, particularly those who require specialty mixtures due to allergies or gastrointestinal conditions, has led to a 40% decrease in inventory nationwide, according to <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/datasembly.com\/news\/out-of-stock-rate-in-april-2022-copy\/#:~:text=Datasembly&#039;s%20real%2Dtime%20hyper%2Dlocal,at%20the%20end%20of%20month.\">Datasembly<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>One cause was a February recall of powdered formulas manufactured at Abbott Nutrition\u2019s manufacturing plant in Sturgis, Michigan, where operations have paused.
