Congress also approved a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/11\/senate-passes-government-funding-resolution\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">$14 billion package<\/a> in March and the Biden administration sent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/biden-approves-350-million-military-aid-ukraine-2022-02-26\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">$350 million<\/a> in the first days of the war and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.state.gov\/200-million-in-new-security-assistance-for-ukraine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">$1 billion<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/03\/16\/fact-sheet-on-u-s-security-assistance-for-ukraine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">more<\/a> in March.<\/p>\n<p>In comparison, no European government has given more than $5 billion as of May 10, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifw-kiel.de\/topics\/war-against-ukraine\/ukraine-support-tracker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to Kiel Institute for the World Economy. (Photo by Sean Gallup\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The $40 billion package <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/congress\/rand-paul-blocks-quick-passage-40-billion-ukraine-aid-package-rcna28648\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">includes<\/a> $6 billion for Ukrainian intelligence, equipment and training, $4 billion for Ukrainian military financing, $8.7 billion for the U.S. to restock weapons, $3.9 billion for U.S. troops in Eastern Europe, $8.8 billion for the Ukrainian government, $5 billion for countries facing food shortages due to the Russia-Ukraine war and $900 million on English lessons for Ukrainian refugees in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. has also deployed over 10,000 additional soldiers to Eastern Europe to bolster support for NATO countries close to Ukraine. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/18\/us-embassy-kyiv-reopens-russia-ukraine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: US Reopens Embassy In Kyiv)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd as long as the assaults and atrocities continue, we\u2019re going to continue to supply military assistance,\u201d Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2022\/04\/28\/remarks-by-president-biden-on-the-request-to-congress-for-additional-funding-to-support-ukraine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> in his plea to Congress to pass the package. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-04-21\/ukraine-sees-rebuild-costing-600-billion-as-it-seeks-global-aid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">estimated<\/a> that rebuilding Ukraine will cost $600 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Biden halted the construction of the wall at the southern border that was ongoing during the Trump administration and was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/omb\/briefing-room\/2021\/06\/11\/fact-sheet-department-of-defense-and-department-of-homeland-security-plans-for-border-wall-funds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">costing<\/a> $46 million per mile, per the White House. Instead, his administration budgeted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/omb\/briefing-room\/2021\/06\/11\/fact-sheet-department-of-defense-and-department-of-homeland-security-plans-for-border-wall-funds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">just over $23.8 billion<\/a> for directly protecting the border in the President\u2019s Budget for Fiscal Year 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The budget i<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/fy-2022-budget-in-brief.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ncluded<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/publications\/dhs_bib_-_web_version_-_final_508.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">$14.3 billion<\/a> for U.S. Customs and Protection, $8.37 billion for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and $1.2 billion for border infrastructure such as technology and \u201cefforts to ensure the safe and humane treatment of migrants.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.govinfo.gov\/content\/pkg\/BUDGET-2023-BUD\/pdf\/BUDGET-2023-BUD.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">President\u2019s Budget for Fiscal Year 2023<\/a>, Biden budgeted $23.4 billion for strengthening the border and immigration processes.
