There is no record of Harris offering her support for Kaura.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Kenyan presidential candidate Raila Odinga recently announced Karua as his running mate for the country\u2019s upcoming presidential election, making her the first woman to be nominated for a major party\u2019s ticket, BBC News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-africa-61464065\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>. An image shared on Facebook appears to show Harris, who is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/elections\/articles\/2021-01-20\/kamala-harris-becomes-first-female-vice-president\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">first woman<\/a> in American history to serve as vice president, congratulating Kaura on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCongratulations @MarthaKarua all women stand with You,\u201d reads the alleged May 16 tweet from Harris. Karua appears to have responded to the tweet by saying, \u201cThank you so much madam Vice president Harris Kamala.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The tweets are digitally fabricated. Neither Harris\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%22Congratulations%20%40MarthaKarua%20all%20women%20stand%20with%20You%22%20(from%3AVP%20OR%20from%3AKamalaHarris)&#038;src=typed_query\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">supposed tweet<\/a> nor Karua\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%22Thank%20you%20so%20much%20madam%20Vice%20president%20Harris%20Kamala%22%20(from%3AMarthaKarua)&#038;src=typed_query\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">purported retweet<\/a> can be found on their respective verified Twitter accounts or in <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20220518200906\/https:\/\/twitter.com\/MarthaKarua\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">any<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20220517050609\/https:\/\/twitter.com\/VP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">archived versions<\/a> of their accounts.
