If found guilty, he faces up to five years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the top five revelations from the Sussmann trial, the first trial to emerge out of the Durham probe into the murky origins of the investigation of now-debunked allegations of Trump-Russia collusion to fix the 2016 presdential election:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Allegation\u00a0&#8220;didn&#8217;t ring true,&#8221;<\/strong><strong> dismissed &#8220;inside of a day&#8221; <\/strong>\u2014<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/justthenews.com\/accountability\/russia-and-ukraine-scandals\/fbi-agents-neustar-employee-testify-sussmann-trial-more\">Special Agent Scott Hellman testified on Tuesday<\/a> that the FBI&#8217;s analysis of\u00a0DNS data on Alfa Bank and Trump Organization email servers given to the agency by Sussmann was done &#8220;inside of a day.&#8221;<strong> <\/strong>He said he quickly realized that the allegation of a secret communications link between the Trump Organization and the bank with Kremlin ties &#8220;didn&#8217;t ring true at all.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Ask Sussman&#8221; <\/strong>\u2014<strong> <\/strong>Top 2016 Clinton campaign lawyer <a href=\"https:\/\/justthenews.com\/accountability\/russia-and-ukraine-scandals\/prosecution-sussmann-trial-calls-more-witnesses-third\">Marc Elias<\/a>\u00a0said\u00a0under\u00a0defense\u00a0cross-examination on Wednesday\u00a0to &#8220;ask Sussmann if he went to the FBI on behalf of the campaign.&#8221; He added that, from\u00a0his standpoint,\u00a0Sussmann didn&#8217;t go to the FBI about the allegation on behalf of the Clinton campaign, and he believes Sussmann didn&#8217;t tell him about the meeting until shortly after it occurred.<\/li>\n<li><strong>FBI couldn&#8217;t be trusted <\/strong>\u2014<strong> <\/strong>Elias also claimed that he <a href=\"https:\/\/justthenews.com\/accountability\/russia-and-ukraine-scandals\/legal-scholar-turley-downplays-sussmann-lawyers-mistrial\">didn&#8217;t trust the FBI enough<\/a> to bring them\u00a0the Alfa Bank allegation because they &#8220;didn&#8217;t do anything&#8221; to stop the release of the hacked DNC server emails.<strong> <\/strong>He added\u00a0that he believed then-FBI Director James Comey had taken &#8220;unfair&#8221; public stances related to the Hillary Clinton\u00a0emails scandal.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Not out to get&#8221; defendant <\/strong>\u2014\u00a0Former FBI General Counsel James Baker\u00a0testified Wednesday\u00a0he was &#8220;not out to get Michael.&#8221;<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>He described Sussmann as a friend and colleague and\u00a0said\u00a0he was just answering questions, underscoring that that this\u00a0was the prosecution&#8217;s investigation, not his.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Durham didn&#8217;t bully witness <\/strong>\u2014<strong> <\/strong>Baker said under\u00a0defense\u00a0cross-examination on Thursday that Durham had not threatened to prosecute him for perjury.
