He is among the many managers contemplating leaving his home city due to crime.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Griffin is getting close to leaving Chicago<\/strong>, where he has been threatening to leave for a while, a mid-day Thursday report from Bloomberg noted. Instead of leaving, Griffin had previously donated millions of dollars toward policing efforts.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/x%20grif.png?itok=Uxq3bIcl\" data-link-option=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/x%20grif.png?itok=Uxq3bIcl\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWe\u2019re getting to the point that if things don\u2019t change, we\u2019re gone. Things aren&#8217;t changing,&#8221;<\/strong> he said this week.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, his hedge fund and market making businesses are headquartered on South Dearborn Street, blocks from the Willis Tower.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Griffin has long said that he would consider leaving due to rising violence and inept political leadership in the city. He even announced a $25 million donation to help fund the University of Chicago Crime Lab\u2019s new program on policing and public safety training, Bloomberg noted.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But the city&#8217;s rising crime over the last few years, which worsened during social unrest related to the George Floyd incident and during Covid, has become an issue that Mayor Lori Lightfoot isn&#8217;t competent enough to solve.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/did%20i%20do%20that.png?itok=XNTe2HK2\" data-link-option=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/did%20i%20do%20that.png?itok=XNTe2HK2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"58b90d2f-d9cb-4cbe-9c2c-91e0235c0932\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" height=\"306\" width=\"500\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/did20i20do20that.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/political\/she-hasnt-done-her-job-looting-riots-mayoral-ineptitude-prompt-mass-exodus-chicago\">documented extensively<\/a> how many former city residents have felt the urge to leave Chicago &#8211; a scene that has also played out in major American cities like New York and San Francisco.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>One resident said of Lightfoot back in 2020: &#8220;She hasn&#8217;t done her job. Her job is to protect me and protect the city. And I just don&#8217;t see that she&#8217;s doing it. I can&#8217;t go out at nighttime anymore. I&#8217;m afraid to. That&#8217;s not normal, that&#8217;s not the way Americans are supposed to live.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Griffin has also donated millions to Illinois\u2019 Republican gubernatorial candidate Richard Irvin, who is seeking to beat current Governor J.B.
