Republican turnout increased to about 61% when the states that held primaries prior to Tuesday are included.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn every state where I\u2019ve been measuring turnout changes relative to previous midterms, I\u2019m seeing a clear advantage on the Republican side,\u201d JMC Analytics founder John Couvillon <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/05\/18\/gop-primary-turnout-suggests-red-wave-in-november-midterms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">told<\/a> the New York Post. Santiago\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Overall turnout is up by 15% compared to the 2018 primaries, with a 32% <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/04\/editor-daily-rundown-gop-turnout-tsunami-ohio-roberts-confirms-scotus-leak\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">increase in Republican turnout<\/a>, according to JMC data. Democratic turnout is down 3% compared to 2018, including 29% in former battleground state Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>It increased by about 12% in North Carolina and 15% in Pennsylvania, but the GOP raised its turnout in those states by 86% and 54%, respectively, JMC\u2019s data found.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStates that are swinging and are Republican are going to move far to the right,\u201d Couvillion told the NYP the data indicates. He noted, however, that there is still a great deal of time left before the general election and that the 10 primaries held thus far are \u201cnot super representative.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Democrats have seen a number of incumbents <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/10\/democrat-jim-cooper-party-facing-extinction-tennessee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">choose not to run<\/a> for reelection amid <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/08\/red-wave-school-boards-oklahoma-wisconsin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">projections of Republican strength<\/a> in the midterms.
