Nearly 100 migrants were released into El Paso\u2019s downtown last week as shelters and federal facilities reached capacity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe migrants were released before dawn, and some quickly made plans to travel on to other cities, while others lingered on the streets of El Paso or at the airport \u2014 too broke to leave or book a hotel,\u201d the New York Post <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/05\/16\/dozens-of-migrants-released-in-el-paso-as-shelters-near-capacity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The report also comes ahead of the planned end of Title 42 next week. The rollback of the Trump-era border health policy could further increase the number of migrants crossing into the city.<\/p>\n<p>A union leader representing U.S. Border Patrol agents is warning that ending Title 42 on Monday will give drug cartels full control of the southern border, The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/border-patrol-union-leader-warns-ending-title-42-will-give-complete-control-to-the-cartels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd expressed his concerns on Fox News\u2019 \u201cAmerica\u2019s Newsroom\u201d on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat we just don\u2019t have anybody in the field, that we just can\u2019t patrol the border. When you look right now, we already start our shifts with 50% of our resources not even performing enforcement activities. They\u2019re in administrative duties,\u201d Judd\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/biden-admin-ending-title-42-give-complete-control-cartels-border-patrol-union-warns\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In March,\u00a0the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/media\/releases\/2022\/s0401-title-42.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a>\u00a0that it would be scrapping the Title 42 policy on May 23 after determining that the rule is \u201cno longer necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The plan to consider a state of emergency also follows a record month of migrant crossings along the southern border in April.\u00a0The April number included 12,221 unaccompanied children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn April, the average number of unaccompanied children in CBP custody was 478 per day, compared with an average of 582 per day in March,\u201d according to the CBP.<\/p>\n<p>CBP Nationwide Total Encounters for the current fiscal year to date through April are already at 1,478,977.<\/p>\n<p>The April numbers follow a March\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/210000-illegal-aliens-arrested-at-border-in-march-more-than-80000-released-into-country\">report<\/a> that nearly 210,000 illegal immigrants were encountered during the month, the largest number for any one month during the Biden presidency.<\/p>\n<p>At least 10 Democratic lawmakers have also joined Republicans in opposition to the end of Title 42 in May. Arizona Democratic Sen.
