Glenn Youngkin told Jesse Watters he doesn\u2019t think Attorney General <u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/merrick-garland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Merrick Garland<\/a><\/u> is going to enforce the law when it comes to protesters picketing outside the homes of Supreme Court justices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGov. Hogan and I have absolutely demanded that Attorney General Garland enforce the federal statute, which is to put people in jail for parading and picketing in front of the justices\u2019 homes,\u201d Youngkin <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/virginia-governor-doj-prosecute-scotus-home-protesters-statute-clear\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Wednesday night. \u201cI don\u2019t think he will, and he absolutely should. It\u2019s clear in the statute that that\u2019s illegal, and he should enforce it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b><u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/restoring-america\/restoring-america\/fairness-justice\/youngkin-seeks-expanded-security-perimeter-for-three-supreme-court-justices\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YOUNGKIN SEEKS \u2018EXPANDED SECURITY PERIMETER\u2019 FOR THREE SUPREME COURT JUSTICES<\/a><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Youngkin and Gov. Larry Hogan (R-MD) wrote a joint letter to Garland on May 11, <u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/restoring-america\/restoring-america\/fairness-justice\/youngkin-seeks-expanded-security-perimeter-for-three-supreme-court-justices\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">noting<\/a><\/u> that \u201cfederal law prohibits picketing the home of a judge with the aim to influence the judge\u2019s decision making process.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"Enhancement\">\n<div class=\"Enhancement-item\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Today, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovernorVA?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@GovernorVA<\/a> and I sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland calling on the Department of Justice to provide adequate resources to keep the Supreme Court justices and their families safe amid ongoing protests at their homes. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/6D0bMGSp3q\">pic.twitter.com\/6D0bMGSp3q<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Governor Larry Hogan (@GovLarryHogan) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovLarryHogan\/status\/1524494786031280128?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 11, 2022<\/a>\n             <\/p><\/blockquote><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Protesters have gathered outside the homes of Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Samuel Alito and Chief Justice John Roberts following the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/what-we-know-about-the-supreme-court-draft-leak-investigation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">leak<\/a> of a draft opinion suggesting that the court is preparing to overturn the landmark abortion ruling in <i>Roe v. Wade<\/i> later this year.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. marshals are providing <u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/us-marshals-providing-around-the-clock-security-at-supreme-court-justices-homes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201caround-the-clock\u201d<\/a><\/u> security service at all nine of the Supreme Court justices\u2019 homes, Garland\u2019s Department of Justice announced Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p>The ramped-up protection came after Garland said there was a \u201crise of violence and unlawful threats\u201d directed at public servants, while his department&#8217;s announcement came after Youngkin made his comments on Watters\u2019s show.<\/p>\n<p><b><u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER\u00a0<\/a><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Youngkin insisted that his calling for prosecutions was not infringing on anyone\u2019s right to protest but noted he is concerned about the same violence Garland described being threatened against justices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reality is as we head into this final decision, we in Virginia are preparing to make sure that, yes, people are allowed to exercise their First Amendment rights,\u201d Youngkin said. \u201cWe will protect people\u2019s rights to exercise their First Amendment rights, but we will not allow violence, we will not allow looting, and we will make sure that the law is upheld.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Virginia\u2019s governor is skeptical that the country\u2019s top law enforcement official is going to make sure laws are upheld evenly.
