There are no studies about such a finding.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Fact Check:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Food and Drug Administration <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/consumers\/consumer-updates\/why-you-should-not-use-ivermectin-treat-or-prevent-covid-19#:~:text=Ivermectin%20tablets%20are%20approved%20by,skin%20conditions%20such%20as%20rosacea.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">recommends against<\/a> the use of ivermectin as a treatment for COVID-19. Despite the advisory, hundreds of U.S. physicians were prescribing it for COVID-19 prevention earlier this year, USA Today <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/health\/2022\/02\/02\/ivermectin-covid-flccc-alliance\/6591039001\/?gnt-cfr=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A screen grab shared on Facebook purportedly shows a tweet from conservative pundit Candace Owens commenting on a May 12 Fox News tweet about recent studies that established a link between ivermectin and incontinence. \u201cIvermectin\u2019s hidden cost: New studies show that 68% of those who used ivermectin to treat or prevent Covid are suffering long-term bowel and urinary incontinence,\u201d reads the alleged Fox News tweet.<\/p>\n<p>The tweet is digitally fabricated. It does not appear on the outlet\u2019s verified <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%22Ivermectin%27s%20hidden%20cost%3A%22%20(from%3AFoxNews)&#038;src=typed_query&#038;f=top\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter<\/a> account or on any <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20220512143031\/https:\/\/twitter.com\/FoxNews\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">archives<\/a> of its <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20220513045739\/https:\/\/twitter.com\/FoxNews\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">page<\/a> from May 12. There is likewise no mention of such studies in any of Fox News\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%22ivermectin%22%20(from%3AFoxNews)&#038;src=typed_query&#038;f=top\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">social<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/foxnews\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">media<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/page\/15704546335\/search\/?q=invermectin%20incontinence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">posts<\/a> or on the outlet\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/search-results\/search?q=ivermectin%20incontinence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A Fox News spokesperson confirmed in an email to Check Your Fact that the tweet in question is not authentic. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/08\/09\/fact-check-unvaccinated-not-spread-covid-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Do Unvaccinated People Not Spread COVID-19?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nejm.org\/doi\/full\/10.1056\/NEJMoa2115869\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">study<\/a> of ivermectin\u2019s effectiveness against COVID-19 revealed it did not reduce the risk of hospitalization or provide any notable benefit, according to a report from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/03\/30\/health\/covid-ivermectin-hospitalization.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The New York Times<\/a>. Neither the report nor the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nejm.org\/doi\/full\/10.1056\/NEJMoa2115869\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">study<\/a> makes any mention of the drug being linked to incontinence.
