In those districts, the generic ballot was TIED and Joe Biden\u2019s approval was -8%.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe average incumbent Democrat was at only 44% on the ballot in these districts \u2014 perilous shape, especially for deep blue districts \u2014 and had a 38% favorable rating and 25% unfavorable rating,\u201d CLF reported, adding that some of the Democrats threatened with defeat included California\u2019s Mike Levin, Connecticut\u2019s Jahana Hayes, Minnesota\u2019s Angie Craig, Virginia\u2019s Abigail Spanberger, and Washington\u2019s Kim Schrier.<\/p>\n<p>If Republican representatives flip a paltry five seats in Congress in November they will gain the majority in the House of Representatives, according to Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>More often than not, the party with their president in the White House loses seats in a non-presidential election year. Barack Obama and the Democrats were wiped out in 2010, losing a staggering 63 seats; in 2018, Donald Trump and the Republicans lost 41 House seats. Both times control of the House flipped to the other party.<\/p>\n<p>Only once in nineteen times since the end of World War II in 1945 has a president\u2019s party gained\u00a0seats in the House of Representatives during his first midterm: in 2002, when George W. Bush was president and the Republicans gained eight House seats.<\/p>\n<p>In one recent NBC poll, President Biden\u2019s approval stood in the high thirties.
