The organization said allowing transgender athletes to compete dooms the sport\u2019s competitive balance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the sport of swimming, the inclusion of transgender people on the grounds of fairness cannot co-exist in the current competitive model,\u201d read the statement, reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/wsca-releases-position-on-transgender-swimming-inclusion-fairness-cannot-coexist-in-current-model\/\">Swimming World magazine<\/a>. \u201cSwimming should choose to offer competition in which the female category is protected for reasons of competitive fairness.\u201d<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>In March, Thomas\u00a0became the first transgender athlete to win an NCAA Division I title after finishing first in the women\u2019s 500-yard freestyle. Some of Thomas\u2019s teammates and competitors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/this-is-not-equality-olympians-coaches-championship-swimmers-demand-ncaa-protect-our-women-athletes\">complained publicly and privately<\/a> that it was not fair for them to have to compete against the almost\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/02\/22\/us\/lia-thomas-transgender-swimmer-ivy-league\/index.html\">6-foot, 4-inch<\/a> biological male.<\/p>\n<p>The group said it is committed to finding a way to include transgender swimmers in competition, possibly by forming a \u201ctrans division.\u201d But it was adamant that biological males should not race against women.<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe inclusion of transgender people into female sport cannot be balanced with fairness due to the retained differences in strength, stamina and physique that are present when comparing the average female with the average transgender female\/non-binary person who was assigned male at birth (whether with or without the involvement of testosterone suppression),\u201d the statement read. \u201cThis is the primary factor to be considered in an endeavor to balance fairness with inclusion.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Thomas\u2019s swimming pool exploits this year prompted lawmakers in several states to take steps to exclude biological males from participating in women\u2019s sports. In addition, Republicans in the House and Senate sought last month to prohibit schools that receive federal funds from allowing biological males to compete in women\u2019s sports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy would we send federal funds to schools that permit an unlevel playing field by allowing biological males to compete against girls and women?\u201d asked Republican Study Committee Executive Committee Member Jeff Duncan (R-SC). \u201cFemale athletes have a legally guaranteed right to compete with other women on a level playing field, and this must be protected for the future of women\u2019s sports.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The issue of gender fluidity is the subject of an upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\">Daily Wire<\/a> documentary, \u201cWhat is a Woman,\u201d \u00a0starring\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/what-is-a-woman-why-the-left-cant-answer-the-question\">Matt Walsh<\/a>.
