His lawyer confirmed the actor did not make the remark.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Verdict: False<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Eastwood, who is known for his right-wing political endorsements, backed Republican presidential candidates John McCain in 2008 and Mitt Romney in 2012, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/blogs\/politics\/2012\/08\/clint-eastwood-endorses-romney\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/blogs\/politics\/2012\/08\/clint-eastwood-endorses-romney&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1652839074934000&#038;usg=AOvVaw1obXynJ_xbEp2Xre5-mrhN\">ABC News<\/a>. An image shared on Facebook claims he once directly criticized Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>The Facebook image features an image of the actor along with an alleged quote of his that reads, \u201cIf you could reason with a democrat, there wouldn\u2019t be any democrats.\u201d The statement has also been attributed to Eastwood on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SWFLPatriot\/status\/1476582597484556289\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The quote is misattributed. Check Your Fact found no credible <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=Clint+Eastwood+%22If+you+could+reason+with+a+democrat%2C+there+wouldn%27t+be+any+democrats%22&#038;ei=UgiDYpCLJuHFytMPrc2sgAE&#038;ved=0ahUKEwiQ_PqtvuX3AhXhonIEHa0mCxAQ4dUDCA4&#038;uact=5&#038;oq=Clint+Eastwood+%22If+you+could+reason+with+a+democrat%2C+there+wouldn%27t+be+any+democrats%22&#038;gs_lcp=Cgdnd3Mtd2l6EAM6BwgAEEcQsANKBAhBGABKBAhGGABQlAFYlAFg8gNoAXABeACAAUWIAUWSAQExmAEAoAEByAEGwAEB&#038;sclient=gws-wiz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">news reports<\/a> about Eastwood making such a comment. Eastwood\u2019s lawyer, Kevin Marks, told Check Your Fact in an email that the actor did not make the remark.<\/p>\n<p>The purported quote may have originated with a social media account posing as Eastwood.
