That\u2019s the highest number in DHS history,\u201d Melugin tweeted Monday afternoon. He added that \u201c117,989 migrants were released into the U.S. in April\u201d and\u00a0<\/span><span>\u201c113,248 were removed, including 96,908 expelled via Title 42.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">BREAKING: There were 234,088 migrants encountered at the Southern border in April, per a DHS court filing today. That\u2019s the highest number in DHS history.<br \/>117,989 migrants were released into the U.S. in April.<br \/>113,248 were removed, including 96,908 expelled via Title 42. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FoxNews?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@FoxNews<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bill Melugin (@BillFOXLA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BillFOXLA\/status\/1526319686010515457?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 16, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>The April numbers follow a March <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/210000-illegal-aliens-arrested-at-border-in-march-more-than-80000-released-into-country\"><span>report<\/span><\/a><span> that nearly 210,000 illegal immigrants were caught during the month, the largest number for any one month during the Biden presidency.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThis means there have been 1,026,460 encounters in the first 6 months of FY\u2019 22, which began on 10\/1,\u201d Melugin <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BillFOXLA\/status\/1515142460359340032?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\"><span>tweeted<\/span><\/a><span> in April. \u201cIn the first 6 months of record setting FY\u201921, there were only 570,826\u00a0 encounters.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Biden, upon the advice of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), has pushed to end Title 42 on May 23, but a federal judge put a temporary stop to the administration\u2019s plans in late April after a lawsuit from Missouri, Louisiana, and Arizona, The Daily Wire <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-federal-judge-bars-biden-from-lifting-trump-era-border-policy\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIn a lawsuit originally filed by Missouri, Louisiana, and Arizona, our Office just obtained a temporary restraining order to keep Title 42 in place. This is a huge victory for border security, but the fight continues on,\u201d Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Last Friday, USA Today <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2022\/05\/13\/title-42-temproray-block-lousiana\/9763292002\/\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span> that a federal judge in Louisiana \u201cdeclined to issue an immediate ruling\u201d on whether Title 42 must remain in place or if the Biden administration can move forward in rescinding the policy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>U.S. District Judge Robert Summerhays promised to issue a ruling before the May 23 date set by the CDC for lifting Title 42.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Experts have warned of a \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/migrant-tsunami-will-worsen-due-to-title-42-rollback-former-trump-and-biden-border-patrol-chief-says\"><span>tsunami<\/span><\/a><span>\u201d of illegal immigrants if the border policy is lifted, and officials have estimated the U.S. could see up to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/officials-bracing-for-18000-migrants-per-day-if-title-42-is-rescinded-republicans-slam-biden-admin-for-national-security-threats\"><span>18,000 encounters<\/span><\/a><span> per day if Biden goes through with rescinding Title 42.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cRevoking Title 42 will create an unprecedented surge at the southern border and it will overwhelm law enforcement agencies and non-governmental organizations as well,\u201d the Republicans who filed the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/cc1fad182b6d6f8b1e352e206\/files\/df71a0c3-dcba-379a-6328-589a80dc4af7\/Title_42_Complaint_Final.pdf\"><span>lawsuit<\/span><\/a><span> argue. \u201cThe U.S. Department of Homeland Security, (DHS), estimates getting rid of Title 42 will result in as many as 18,000 migrants per day \u2013 which could mean 540,000 migrants in a single month.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ten congressional Democrats have also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/ten-democrats-join-republicans-to-oppose-president-biden-ending-title-42\">joined<\/a> in opposition to Biden\u2019s push to end Title 42. \u201cRight now, we have a crisis on our southern border. Right now, this administration does not have a plan. I warned them about this months ago,\u201d Rep.
