Today we\u2019ll be taking a deep dive into five of those on-and-off again celebrity relationships that went spectacularly bad. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>To start things off, let\u2019s go back to the 1960s when sparks flew between <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Taniawlt\/status\/1521936463667122183?s=20&#038;t=KeiDsyMLjsoKcRsmuM8uKA\"><span>Taylor and Burton<\/span><\/a><span> on the set of the 1963 film \u201cCleopatra,\u201d where the actress played the ruler of Egypt and Burton one of her lovers, Mark Antony. The two were married to other people at the time, Taylor to singer Eddie Fisher and Burton to actress Sybil Williams. Burton and Williams would divorce the same year the film was released.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In 1988, the \u201cCat On a Hot Tin Roof\u201d actress said when she saw \u201chim on the set of Cleopatra, [she] fell in love and\u2026 loved him ever since,\u201d reported <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/movies\/elizabeth-taylor-dead-photos-loves-and-life\/\"><span>People<\/span><\/a><span> magazine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Despite being already married, the two began a scandalous affair, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/hollywood\/2020\/08\/elizabeth-taylor-richard-burton-marriage-furious-love\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span> Vanity Fair in 2020. Nine days after Taylor divorced Fisher in March 1964, Taylor and Burton tied the knot. Their relationship would become fodder for tabloids which highlighted their turmoil-filled romance, from fighting \u2014 both in private and in public \u2014 to excessive drinking. Taylor and Burton were married for the first time in 1964, and ended their marriage in 1974 with a divorce. The two were remarried a year later, however, though their second marriage ended in divorce in 1976.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Another celebrity romance that made headlines due to its toxicity and scandalous affairs was between <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mehafkhaled\/status\/1524365069399871489?s=20&#038;t=KeiDsyMLjsoKcRsmuM8uKA\"><span>legend Frank Sinatra and Hollywood star Ava Gardner<\/span><\/a><span>. When the two met in 1943, Gardner was married to Mickey Rooney, and Sinatra was married to Nancy Barbato. By the age of 23, Gardner had already been married twice and had a reputation of being a serial cheater, even while she and Sinatra were married, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/3am\/celebrity-news\/inside-frank-sinatra-ava-gardners-22290210\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span> the Mirror UK.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The \u201cFly Me To The Moon\u201d singer and the \u201cThe Barefoot Contessa\u201d actress started secretly dating one another behind their respective spouses\u2019 backs and eventually went public with their romance in 1950. In 1951, Barbato divorced Sinatra. A few days after their divorce, Sinatra and Gardner were married. Over the next few years the two reportedly had numerous affairs behind each others\u2019 backs and finally divorced in 1957, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.slice.ca\/20-worst-celebrity-couples-in-pop-culture-history\/\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span> Slice. Throughout their marriage the two became known for all the \u201cdrinking, arguing, and then passionately making up in public,\u201d they did, the outlet noted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Fast forward to the 2000s when fans were still holding out hope that Jennifer Aniston and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/brad-pitt-addresses-toxic-masculinity-james-barrett\"><span>Brad Pitt<\/span><\/a><span> would find their way back to each other after their divorce in 2005. However, that wouldn\u2019t become a reality after the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/brad-pitt-makes-political-statement-at-oscars-gets-mocked-by-critics\"><span>58-year-old actor<\/span><\/a><span> worked with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/judge-awards-brad-pitt-joint-custody-of-children-after-angelina-jolie-pleads-to-have-kids-testify\"><span>Angelina Jolie<\/span><\/a><span> on the set of their movie \u201cMr. and Mrs. Smith\u201d in 2003.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cBecause of the film, we ended up being brought together to do all these crazy things, and I think we found this strange friendship and partnership that kind of just suddenly happened,\u201d Jolie told Vogue of Pitt in 2007, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/celebrity\/angelina-jolie-how-brad-pitt-i-fell-in-love\/\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span> People.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Jolie and Pitt would remain \u201cvery, very good friends\u201d until Pitt and Aniston announced their separation in 2005, and then their friendship turned into more. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/angelina-jolie-poses-for-photo-covered-in-live-bees-for-world-bee-day\"><span>Jolie<\/span><\/a><span> said tying the knot was not a priority, and the two became an item, having their first daughter, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/tomboy-goes-glam-how-shiloh-jolie-pitt-escaped-the-trans-craze-to-become-a-lovely-young-lady\"><span>Shiloh Jolie-Pitt<\/span><\/a><span>, in 2006\u00a0 as well as adopting several children over the next few years. By 2012, Pitt said their six children were pressuring him to put a ring on their mother\u2019s finger, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/brad-pitt-angelina-jolie-oscars-moneyball-tree-of-life-284533\/\"><span>The Hollywood Reporter<\/span><\/a><span> reported. The two were engaged later that year and tied the knot in 2014, and it seemed as though they had found their happily ever after.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>However, forever would not be the case for the Hollywood superstars, for the \u201cEternals\u201d star filed for divorce in 2016. A lengthy and costly divorce was followed by a long custody battle that lasted for the next few years. In 2021, a judge finally granted the superstar actor joint custody of his children with Jolie, as previously <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/judge-awards-brad-pitt-joint-custody-of-children-after-angelina-jolie-pleads-to-have-kids-testify\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span> by The Daily Wire.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Fans of the off-again-on-again relationship between Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth would probably tell you that they are still not over how things went down with this couple. The two first got together after meeting on the set of their movie \u201cThe Last Song\u201d in 2010.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Their romance would lead to headlines for the next decade of them breaking up and getting back together numerous times before they found their way back to each other for the last time in 2016. The \u201cHannah Montana\u201d star and Hemsworth were together for several years after their 2016 reconnection. It appeared as though the two had finally weathered the storm of their troubles by December 2018 ,despite their home burning down a few months earlier, and had made it to forever after tying the knot in a small ceremony surrounded by a few friends and family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>However, their marriage wouldn\u2019t even last a year. In July 2019, the \u201cWrecking Ball\u201d singer told <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.elle.com\/culture\/music\/a28280119\/miley-cyrus-elle-interview\/\"><span>Elle magazine<\/span><\/a><span> that she definitely didn\u2019t \u201cfit into a stereotypical wife role\u201d and said that, despite being in \u201ca hetero relationship,\u201d she\u2019s still \u201cvery sexually attracted to women.\u201d Several months later, stories surfaced that Miley and Liam had split. The \u201cHunger Games\u201d star put speculations to rest after posting on his <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B1FuUk7nbjn\/\"><span>Instagram<\/span><\/a><span> that it was a \u201cprivate matter\u201d and that they had indeed \u201cseparated.\u201d The divorce was finalized in December 2019, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2019\/12\/24\/miley-cyrus-and-liam-hemsworth-divorce-a-done-deal\/\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span> TMZ at the time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Last but certainly not least, there\u2019s actor <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/johnny-depp-from-box-office-magic-to-hollywood-pariah\"><span>Johnny Depp<\/span><\/a><span> and actress Amber Heard who met on the set of their 2009 movie, \u201cThe Rum Diary.\u201d At the time, the \u201cPirates of the Caribbean\u201d star was romantically linked with Vanessa Paradis, whom he shares two children with. The two split up in 2012.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>During the 58-year-old actor\u2019s recent testimony at his defamation trial against Heard \u2014 over claims that she allegedly defamed him in an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/ive-seen-how-institutions-protect-men-accused-of-abuse-heres-what-we-can-do\/2018\/12\/18\/71fd876a-02ed-11e9-b5df-5d3874f1ac36_story.html\"><span>op-ed<\/span><\/a><span> she wrote for The Washington Post in 2018 \u2014 he admitted that he was attracted to the actress and that the two kissed at one point while he was still with Paradis, as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/from-the-altar-to-the-courtroom-the-johnny-depp-and-amber-heard-relationship-timeline\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span> previously by The Daily Wire.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In 2014, reports surfaced that Depp and Heard were getting married. At the time, the \u201cAquaman\u201d star had last broken up with Hawaiian artist\/photographer Tasya van Ree. The Hollywood stars made things official in February 2015. However, 15 months later, the \u201cZombieland\u201d star filed for divorce and obtained a restraining order against the \u201cEdward Scissorhands\u201d star. Heard <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/04\/30\/entertainment\/johnny-depp-amber-heard-timeline\/index.html\"><span>alleged<\/span><\/a><span> that during their marriage she was reportedly abused while the actor was using drugs. Depp denied the charges. Her claims led to filing a case against him that was settled out of court for $7 million in 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In 2019, the \u201cCharlie and the Chocolate Factory\u201d star sued Heard for $50 million and claimed that her accusations ruined his career in Hollywood \u2013 most notably, his removal from the Disney \u201cPirates of the Caribbean\u201d franchise. In retort, Heard claimed that Depp\u2019s legal team made false claims about her and is countersuing the actor for $100 million in damages.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/johnny-depps-talent-manager-catastrophic-223502491.html\"><span>During recent testimony<\/span><\/a><span>, Depp\u2019s talent manager, Jack Whigham, testified about the \u201ccatastrophic\u201d loss of work the star suffered following Heard\u2019s accusations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>During the trial, fans have heard accusations about <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/watch-amber-heard-sobs-uncontrollably-on-stand-recalling-depp-allegedly-beating-penetrating-her-with-bottle\"><span>Depp\u2019s alleged<\/span><\/a><span> physical and sexual abuse of his ex-wife and even claims that the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/it-was-so-bizarre-johnny-depp-details-account-of-amber-heard-allegedly-leaving-feces-in-their-bed-after-fight\"><span>actress allegedly<\/span><\/a><span> left human feces in the couple\u2019s marital bed as a \u201cpractical joke\u201d after a fight.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cHe [Depp] was the love of my life,\u201d <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/05\/04\/arts\/amber-heard-johnny-depp-violence.html\"><span>Heard shared<\/span><\/a><span> on the stand recently. \u201cBut he was also this other thing.
