Tom Cotton blasted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Monday for referring to some Supreme Court justices as \u201canti-freedom\u201d during a recent interview.<\/p>\n<p>Cotton shared the remarks on \u201cFox &#038; Friends\u201d regarding Pelosi\u2019s Sunday comments on CNN.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s funny that Nancy Pelosi calls this an anti-freedom court. If the justices do rule along the lines of that opinion that was scandalously leaked a couple weeks ago, it would simply be empowering the American people to make choices for themselves about how they\u2019re going to govern themselves as opposed to letting those choices be made by nine unelected lawyers in Washington,\u201d Cotton said.<\/p>\n<p>The senator also commented on the attitude as fitting with how Democrats have continued to act in response to decisions they do not like.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just in keeping with the Democrats\u2019 practices of trying to destroy institutions if those institutions don\u2019t produce the results they want, even when in reality, it\u2019s simply giving choices back to the American people,\u201d Cotton added.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The leaked opinion and illegal protests at justices\u2019 homes shouldn\u2019t be surprising.<\/p>\n<p>When Democrats don\u2019t get what they want, they try to destroy the institution. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/H9ukRHs00o\">pic.twitter.com\/H9ukRHs00o<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tom Cotton (@SenTomCotton) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenTomCotton\/status\/1526212817040420865?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 16, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Pelosi made the controversial comment during an interview on CNN\u2019s \u201cState of the Union.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho would have ever suspected that a creature like Donald Trump would become President of the United States, waving a list of judges that he would appoint, therefore, getting the support of the far-right, and appointing those anti-freedom justices to the court?\u201d she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.speaker.gov\/newsroom\/51522-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> CNN anchor Dana Bash.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact is, this is a dangerous Court to families, to freedom in our country. And that is why people have to mobilize. And my saying is: we don\u2019t agonize, we organize,\u201d Pelosi later added.<\/p>\n<p>Bash also asked Pelosi, \u201cWould you encourage private companies to provide travel for abortions as a health benefit?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, of course,\u201d Pelosi responded.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to her interview, Pelosi also applauded the \u201crighteous anger\u201d of abortion-rights activists in a letter sent last Monday to fellow House Democrats to encourage them to carry on the fight against the pro-life movement.<\/p>\n<p>Pelosi\u2019s letter was sent just one week after a leaked majority opinion from Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito was published, revealing a potential overturning of the 1973\u00a0<em>Roe v. Wade\u00a0<\/em>ruling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith this draft ruling striking down the nearly fifty-year-old precedent of\u00a0<i>Roe v. Wade<\/i>\u00a0and undermining the Constitutional right to privacy, Republicans would rip away women\u2019s right to make the most intimate and personal decisions. If handed down, this decision by GOP-appointed Justices would mean that, for the first time in our history, America\u2019s daughters will have less freedom than their mothers,\u201d Pelosi\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.speaker.gov\/newsroom\/5922\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile we have seen and heard extraordinary anguish in our communities, we have been moved by how so many have channeled their righteous anger into meaningful action: planning to march and mobilize to make their voices heard,\u201d Pelosi added.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court\u2019s final ruling has yet to be released regarding the high-profile case. However, the case\u2019s outcome is expected to be announced near the end of the court\u2019s current term in June.<\/p>\n<p>House Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) also forced a vote last week on the Women\u2019s Health Protection Act to put senators on record regarding their support for abortion.<\/p>\n<p>The vote failed to reach the 60 votes needed to pass under the Senate filibuster. All 50 Republican senators and West Virginia Democratic Sen.
