There is no record of CNN publishing such an article.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Fact Check:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Facebook image shows what appears to be a screenshot of a Feb. 28 CNN article titled, \u201cRussian Military Forces Set Fire to Compound Outside Kiev Occupied by Women and Children, Burning Them Alive.\u201d The featured image shows a compound engulfed in flames.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWACO TEXAS reported to be Ukraine by CNN,\u201d reads the post\u2019s caption. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/05\/13\/fact-check-volodymyr-zelenskyy-stamp-poland-post-office\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did The Polish Post Office Create A Stamp Dedicated To Volodymyr Zelenskyy?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As the caption alludes to, the image featured in the post shows a scene from the 1993 Waco siege in Waco, Texas. The siege occurred after U.S. federal agents attempted to carry out a search warrant at a compound occupied by members of the religious sect the Branch Davidians, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/survivors-1993-waco-siege-describe-happened-fire-ended\/story?id=52034435\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ABC News<\/a>.\u00a0The Facebook post appears to be suggesting that CNN reused an old photo depicting the Waco siege in its coverage of the war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>The image, however, is fabricated. No such article could be found on CNN\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/search?q=%22Russian+Military+Forces+Set+Fire+to+Compound+Outside+Kiev%22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a> or in any of the outlet\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%22Russian%20Military%20Forces%20Set%20Fire%20to%20Compound%20Outside%20Kiev%22%20(from%3ACNN)&#038;src=typed_query\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">social<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/page\/5550296508\/search\/?q=%22Russian%20Military%20Forces%20Set%20Fire%20to%20Compound%20Outside%20Kiev%22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">media<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/cnn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">posts<\/a>. \u201cThis is fabricated,\u201d said a CNN spokesperson in an email to<span class=\"il\"> Check Your Fact.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>There are no credible <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=CNN+Waco+Ukraine&#038;oq=CNN+Waco+Ukraine&#038;aqs=chrome..69i57j69i64j69i60l3.3223j0j7&#038;sourceid=chrome&#038;ie=UTF-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">news reports<\/a> suggesting CNN used a photo from the Waco siege in a story about current events in Ukraine or that Russian forces burned women and children alive. Russian forces have been laying siege to a steel plant in Mariupol, Ukraine where Ukrainian soldiers and civilians have been taking shelter for several months, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/2022\/05\/12\/ukraine-mariupol-steel-plant-last-stand\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Washington Post<\/a>.
