This growing sentiment is sparking concern among Western European leaders who previously worried about Ukraine\u2019s destruction, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/europes-leaders-fall-out-of-key-on-ukraine\/\">according<\/a> to Politico.<\/p>\n<p>While world leaders have noted that a ceasefire is up to Ukraine, they\u2019ve recently begun highlighting its importance more fervently, Politico reported.<\/p>\n<p>French President Emmanuel Macron noted recently that a \u201chumiliation\u201d of Russia could cause issues, such as the destabilization of Russia. This, according to Politico, is a key concern, as it could ultimately make Russia \u201cmore unpredictable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are not at war with Russia,\u201d Macron <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/europe\/lets-not-make-same-mistakes-past-once-ukraine-russia-conflict-ends-macron-2022-05-09\/\">highlighted<\/a> May 9 to the European Parliament, adding that Europe must focus on helping Ukraine \u201cachieve a ceasefire, then build peace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, following a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, noted that talk of a ceasefire was a key focus of the conversation.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">\u201cThere must be a ceasefire in #Ukraine\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">as quickly as possible,\u201d Scholz wrote May 13 in a tweet laying out points made during his conversation with Putin.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Three points from my long phone call with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Putin?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Putin<\/a> today:<br \/>There must be a ceasefire in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Ukraine?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Ukraine<\/a> as quickly as possible.<br \/>The claim that Nazis are in power there is false.<br \/>And I also reminded him about Russia\u2019s responsibility for the global food situation.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz (@Bundeskanzler) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Bundeskanzler\/status\/1525079306514440194?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 13, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Meanwhile, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi met May 10 with President Joe Biden. The two leaders spoke in part about Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/05\/10\/joint-readout-of-the-meeting-between-president-joseph-r-biden-jr-and-prime-minister-mario-draghi\/\">according<\/a> to a White House readout. After the meeting, Draghi also <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/23\/what-take-war-ukraine-russia-end-diplomacy\/\">highlighted<\/a> the idea of building \u201cpeace,\u201d Politico reported.<\/p>\n<p>Another concern surrounding a possible Ukrainian win is the potential use of \u201ctactical nuclear weapons,\u201d The New York Times\u2019 opinion columnist Ross Douthat explained.<\/p>\n<p>Douthat suggested in a piece published May 14 that Russia would view \u201ctotal defeat in Ukraine as a regime-threatening scenario.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that Russian military doctrine envisions using tactical nuclear weapons defensively, to turn the tide in a losing war,\u201d Douthat <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/05\/14\/opinion\/ukraine-russia-putin-biden.html\">wrote<\/a>. \u201cWe should assume that Putin and his circle regard total defeat in Ukraine as a regime-threatening scenario. Combine those realities with a world where the Russians are suddenly being routed, their territorial gains evaporating, and you have the most nuclear-shadowed military situation since our naval blockade of Cuba in 1962.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Still, experts <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/10\/what-happens-if-putin-nukes-ukraine\/\">previously<\/a> told the Daily Caller that they view the use of nuclear weapons as an unlikely scenario.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s highly unlikely that Putin uses nuclear weapons in Ukraine. The scenario in which I see that decision being taken and executed is in the event of a defeat of the Russian army in a conventional war. By this, I don\u2019t mean a quagmire in Ukraine but a force marching on Moscow or St. Petersburg. I don\u2019t see that on the horizon,\u201d Peter Rough, a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, told the Caller.<\/p>\n<p>Though some world leaders grow increasingly anxious for a ceasefire, the U.S. is operating with the policy of aiding Ukraine so that they can \u201cwin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have the mindset that we want to help them [Ukraine] win,\u201d Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.economist.com\/europe\/america-is-now-thinking-of-winning-the-war-in-ukraine\/21808960\">said<\/a> after a visit to Ukraine in April. \u201cWe want to see Russia weakened to the degree that it can\u2019t do the kinds of things that it has done in invading Ukraine.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/18\/joe-biden-china-call-consequences-aids-russia-invasion-ukraine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>(RELATED: Biden Warns China Of \u2018Consequences\u2019 Should It Aid Russian Invasion Of\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Ukraine)<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This rhetoric is backed up by the administration\u2019s continued <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/28\/joe-biden-requests-33-billion-ukraine-aid\/\">push<\/a> to provide Ukraine with more weapons and security <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/13\/joe-biden-800-million-dollars-military-aid-ukraine-russia\/\">aid<\/a>. What\u2019s more, Ukrainian\u00a0President Volodymyr Zelenskyy seems unwilling to negotiate at this point in the fight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want the Russian army to leave our land \u2014 we aren\u2019t on Russian soil,\u201d Zelenskyy declared Thursday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/zelenskyy-macron-asked-ukraine-concession-help-putin-save-face\/\">according<\/a> to Politico. \u201cWe won\u2019t help Putin save face by paying with our territory.
