Ukraine and Russia are the one and two largest wheat producers in the world. We\u2019re three. They\u2019re shut down. We saw that in yesterday\u2019s inflation data.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat people don\u2019t know is that 70% of the increase in inflation was the consequence of Putin\u2019s Price Hike because of the impact on oil prices. Seventy percent,\u201d Biden charged.<\/p>\n<p>In early March, Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2022\/03\/08\/remarks-by-president-biden-announcing-u-s-ban-on-imports-of-russian-oil-liquefied-natural-gas-and-coal\/\">attacked<\/a> oil and gas companies vis-\u00e0-vis inflation, snapping, \u201cTo the oil and gas companies and to the finance firms that back them: We understand Putin\u2019s war against the people of Ukraine is causing prices to rise. We get that.\u00a0 That\u2019s self-evident. But \u2014 but, but, but \u2014 it\u2019s no excuse to exercise excessive price increases or padding profits or any kind of effort to exploit this situation or Ameri- \u2014 or American consumers \u2014 exploit them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ferguson, once <a href=\"http:\/\/content.time.com\/time\/specials\/packages\/article\/0,28804,1970858_1970909_1971694,00.html\">named<\/a> one\u00a0of Time\u00a0magazine\u2019s 100 most influential people in the world, argued that inflation was triggered much earlier that Biden would admit, declaring, \u201cThis problem began right at the\u00a0start of the Biden presidency\u00a0with the superfluous overshoot in fiscal stimulus that led the economy to overheat in such a predictable way that a former Democratic treasury\u00a0secretary Larry Summers in\u00a0February 2021, just weeks after\u00a0the inauguration said it was gonna be an inflation mess and\u00a0here we are.
