The moment you said we\u2019re going to shut down American energy, we\u2019re not going to have leases \u2013 not only in Alaska but on federal land \u2013 the moment you made it somehow feel icky to be a participant in the fossil fuels supply chain you knew these prices were going to come,\u201d Pompeo said.\u00a0\u201cIt will have enormous implications for the American economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The former secretary of state added that the nation\u2019s energy problems are due to political decisions rather than a lack of oil or other resources.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe American leadership, Joe Biden, made the political decision to shut in American energy when we were nearly energy independent and he said don\u2019t loan to them, don\u2019t buy their stock, don\u2019t bank for them, don\u2019t talk to them, don\u2019t deal with them,\u201d Pompeo told host John Catsimatidis. \u201cHe shut them all in, as if the internal combustion engine was no longer necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pompeo warned that the shortages Americans \u00a0are currently facing could extend far beyond the current baby formula shortages impacting many parts of the nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a real tragedy and we\u2019re very likely to face shortages that go far beyond just the one we\u2019re seeing today in baby formula,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>Pompeo may no longer be the nation\u2019s secretary of state but has remained an important figure in American politics. The State Department is paying millions of dollars every month both Pompeo and a former top aide after uncovering \u201cserious and credible\u201d threats from Iran, The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/u-s-paying-millions-every-month-to-protect-mike-pompeo-aide-from-iran\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> in March.<\/p>\n<p>The State Department revealed in a report to Congress dated February 14 that the U.S. government is paying more than $2 million a month to provide security to Pompeo and former Iran envoy Brian Hook, according to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/biden-mike-pompeo-iran-middle-east-795eb3faae6dc4803faafa3ee6615f4a\">Associated Press<\/a>. Both men were heavily involved in former President Donald Trump\u2019s hardline pressure campaign against the Iranian regime.<\/p>\n<p>Pompeo received 180 days of security after leaving office under federal protocols, and that security detail has been renewed in 60-day increments since by Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Blinken also signed off on a special security detail for Hook.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to dealing with ongoing threats, Pompeo has also launched a conservative political action group since leaving office to support Republican candidates. The <a href=\"https:\/\/cavpac.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Champion American Values PAC<\/a> (CAV PAC) has endorsed several candidates during the midterms, most recently <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cav_pac\/status\/1524864984332877852\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">including<\/a> Tyler Kistner in his battle for the 2nd District of Minnesota.<\/p>\n<p>Pompeo has also been rumored as a potential 2024 Republican presidential candidate, though he has made no formal announcement.
