Kevin Stitt blasted potential discussion regarding abortion-on-demand services on tribal lands in his state, arguing against the effort and claiming he is \u201cwatching\u201d out for the possibility.<\/p>\n<p>Stitt shared the remarks on \u201cFox News Sunday\u201d during an <a href=\"https:\/\/video.foxnews.com\/v\/6306198228112#sp=show-clips\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview<\/a> regarding Oklahoma\u2019s pro-life efforts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe tribes in Oklahoma are super liberal,\u201d he said. \u201cThey go to Washington, D.C. They talk to President Biden at the White House, they kind of adopt those strategies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The governor expressed his concern and noted his state is prepared to deal with the potential move.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe think that there\u2019s a possibility that some tribes may try to set up abortion on demand. \u2026 that\u2019s something that we\u2019re watching,\u201d Stitt added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll tell you this, Oklahomans will not think very\u00a0well that if the tribes try\u00a0to start up abortion clinics\u00a0\u2014 abortion on demand \u2014 in eastern Oklahoma because the expansion\u00a0of tribal lands includes the\u00a0city of Tulsa.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stitt also took to Twitter on Sunday to share his criticisms of social Democrats who oppose pro-life protections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSocialist Democrats use poverty rates and other statistics to justify their immoral argument for killing unborn children,\u201d the governor wrote. \u201cBut I believe God has a special plan for every life. I\u2019m working hard to make Oklahoma a Top Ten state. Following a recently enacted law by Texas that bans abortions after six weeks, Stitt recently signed a similar ban with no exceptions for rape or incest.<\/p>\n<p>Stitt signed the law on May 3, posting his proud support in a Twitter post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am proud to sign SB 1503, the Oklahoma Heartbeat Act into law,\u201d Stitt\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovStitt\/status\/1521606133525491715\">tweeted<\/a>. \u201cI want Oklahoma to be the most pro-life state in the country because I represent all four million Oklahomans who overwhelmingly want to protect the unborn.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The law arrived on Stitt\u2019s desk last week after it was approved in the state legislature, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/oklahoma-passes-texas-style-abortion-ban\">The\u00a0Daily Wire<\/a>\u00a0reported. It passed the state House of Representatives by an overwhelming majority, 68-12, after it passed the state Senate in March by another large majority, 33-11. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/abortion-us-supreme-court-health-texas-oklahoma-528aede70223d68dd5ed09160098445f\">Associated Press<\/a>\u00a0reported that the bill went into effect immediately upon Stitt\u2019s signature.<\/p>\n<p>The new <a href=\"http:\/\/webserver1.lsb.state.ok.us\/cf_pdf\/2021-22%20FLR\/HFLR\/SB1503%20HFLR.PDF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">law<\/a> declares that \u201can abortion may not be performed or induced on a pregnant woman unless a physician has determined, in accordance with this section, whether the woman\u2019s unborn child has a detectable fetal heartbeat.\u201d Defining a fetal heartbeat as \u201ccardiac activity or the steady and repetitive rhythmic contraction of the fetal heart within the gestational sac,\u201d the law then bans abortion if the heartbeat can be detected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[A] physician shall not knowingly perform or induce an abortion on a pregnant woman if the physician detected a fetal heartbeat for the unborn child\u2026 or failed to perform a test to detect a fetal heartbeat,\u201d the law states.<\/p>\n<p>The law also comes shortly after a recent leak of a Supreme Court opinion draft by Justice Samuel Alito that may overturn\u00a0<em>Roe v.
