The perk is courtesy of Capitol Hill\u2019s new caterer, hospitality services giant Sodexo, and was first reported by Fox News Channel\u2019s Chad Pergram.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWine and beer was often available at catered receptions on Capitol Hill,\u201d tweeted Pergram, known to Fox News viewers for his encyclopedic knowledge of Congress. \u201cBut now booze can go directly to a Member\u2019s office.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">1) The filibuster is fine. But liquor is quicker.<\/p>\n<p>Fox has learned that lawmakers and aides can now order beer, wine and hard liquor directly to their offices.<\/p>\n<p>This is through the new caterer on the House side of Capitol Hill, Sodexo.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Chad Pergram (@ChadPergram) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChadPergram\/status\/1525169326508105728?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 13, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thehouse.misofi.net\/menugrid.asp?mode=p&#038;a=13&#038;cg=22&#038;intOrderID=&#038;intCustomerID=\">Drinks on Demand<\/a>\u201d page on Sodexo\u2019s House of Representatives site offers \u201cbulk orders\u201d for drinks \u201cby the case.\u201d Spirits brands such as Tito\u2019s vodka, Jack Daniels whiskey, Johnnie Walker scotch and more are available for prices ranging from $16 to $35 per bottle. Beer, which can only be purchased by the case, ranges from $25 for a 24-pack of Busch for the thrifty lawmaker to $50 for a case of Red Bear 51st State Hazy IPA.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Pelosi is opening a liquor store in the House where Members can buy alcohol with their taxpayer-funded MRAs.<\/p>\n<p>All while Americans are struggling to pay for food? Various brands in each category of Cabernet, Chardonnay, Malbec, Merlot, Rose, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio, and Riesling for lawmakers out of touch with their beer-and-a-shot, working-class constituents. But to be fair, the most expensive wine on the menu is just $25 a bottle, and lawmakers can be content to sip Crane Lake Pinot Grigio for just $10 a bottle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPelosi is opening a liquor store in the House where Members can buy alcohol with their taxpayer-funded MRAs,\u201d tweeted Georgia Republican Rep. Austin Scott.<\/p>\n<p>Many on Twitter wanted to know who will be paying the bar tab.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWill there be some sort of tracker for the total amount purchased by each office?\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BackerJose\/status\/1525205124158717952?s=20&#038;t=jY0GyvpF92Egq3CLhdJQIA\">asked one Twitter user<\/a>. \u201cAt least for those who pay with campaign money?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cha.house.gov\/member-services\/handbooks\/members-congressional-handbook#Members-Handbook-Office-Expenses-Food\">House rules<\/a> clearly state that, while members and their staff \u201cmay be reimbursed for food and non-alcoholic beverage expenses incurred while participating in virtual legislative planning sessions,\u201d they can\u2019t bill Uncle Sam for booze.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMembers and employees may not be reimbursed for the cost of alcoholic beverages,\u201d it states.<\/p>\n<p>But as a cynic might expect, lawmakers may use campaign funds for late-night libations.
