Wade<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Judiciary Act of 2021<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The legislation meant to accomplish the court packing goal, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/2584\/text?q=%7B%22search%22%3A%5B%22Judiciary+Act+of+2021%22%5D%7D&#038;r=1&#038;s=1#:~:text=Introduced%20in%20House%20(04%2F15%2F2021)&#038;text=To%20amend%20title%2028%2C%20United,Court%20of%20the%20United%20States.&#038;text=To%20amend%20title%2028%2C%20United,Court%20of%20the%20United%20States.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">H.R. 2584<\/a>, states:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cTo amend Title 28, United States Code, to allow for twelve associate justices of the Supreme Court of the United States.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Since the draft leak, <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/news\/house\/3483645-democratic-support-for-scotus-expansion-grows-after-leak\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">five Democratic Representatives<\/a> have voiced support for the bill, including; Brendan Boyle (Pa), Nanette Diaz Barragan (Calif), David Cicilline (R.I.), and Jimmy Gomez (Calif), and Mark DeSaulnier (Calif).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">That\u2019s 56 sponsors, about a quarter of the Democratic caucus.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Supreme Court is meant to be a last resort to resolve cases that can\u2019t be determined at a lower court level. The Constitution doesn\u2019t state precisely how many judges must be on the highest Court in the land. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/story\/why-are-there-nine-justices-on-the-us-supreme-court\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The number has ranged from five to ten over the years but has been nine since 1869.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Supreme Court has, at least nominally, a six-to-three conservative majority which has incensed Democrats for a while now. Congressman <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/news\/house\/3483645-democratic-support-for-scotus-expansion-grows-after-leak\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DeSaulnier said<\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cAs the Supreme Court has become increasingly partisan and extremist, now more than ever, we must expand the court to preserve democracy and the personal liberties of millions of Americans, including the right to make one\u2019s own health care decisions.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The left likes to label anyone or anything that doesn\u2019t fit their narrative as extremist in nature. All the while staying silent on protestors chanting \u201cAbort the Court\u201d outside private residences of justices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/democrats-pack-supreme-court-abolish-filibuster-leaked-abortion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Senator Elizabeth Warren pushed further, stating<\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cRight-wing extremists have hijacked the Supreme Court of the United States. We must #ExpandTheCourt to rebalance it and defend our basic rights, including the constitutional right to an abortion.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Hijacked? The Supreme Court Justices went through the same process as the liberal-leaning justices.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">What Say You, Mr. President?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">When President Biden was a Senator back in 1987, he condemned court-packing. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/story\/why-are-there-nine-justices-on-the-us-supreme-court\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">President Franklin Delano Roosevelt had attempted to pack the courts<\/a> to push through the New Deal. It was this topic that then-Senator Biden rebuked as pretty much everybody agrees court-packing shouldn\u2019t be done to manipulate political outcomes.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">At the height of his popularity, FDR tried to expand the Supreme Court to put more liberal Justices on the bench. It was overwhelmingly unpopular, and he was forced to back down.<\/p>\n<p>Packing the courts is one of the most undemocratic things a nation can do. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/1xMluDqOG7\">https:\/\/t.co\/1xMluDqOG7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Dan K. Eberhart (@DanKEberhart) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DanKEberhart\/status\/1524402469006036992?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 11, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">However, upon taking office, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/democrats-pack-supreme-court-abolish-filibuster-leaked-abortion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">President Biden commissioned a \u201cSupreme Court Reform study.\u201d<\/a> But like most actions by this administration, it was an empty gesture made to appease the louder members of the liberal left. The study sent him a \u201cno position\u201d decision on the issue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/chicago-mayor-lori-lightfoot-issues-call-to-arms-against-supreme-court-claims-theyre-coming-for-lgbtq-community\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot Issues \u2018Call to Arms\u2019 Against Supreme Court, Claims They\u2019re Coming For \u2018LGBTQ+ Community\u2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">And What Do You Say, Mitch?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/democrats-attack-supreme-court-legitimacy-leak-roe-overturned\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell stated<\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe same political movement that used a leak to move up the timeline of Justice Breyer\u2019s retirement process is trying to use yet another leak to make the court less secure and less impartial.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">It is interesting that we still don\u2019t know the leaker\u2019s identity. It feels as though this should be pretty easy to sniff out in a tightly-wound institution like the Supreme Court.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Senator McConnell has a point, though. The call to pack the Court, do away with the filibuster, and force a vote codifying <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> is political theater.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Speaker Pelosi and the President keep a safe enough distance from packing the Court because they don\u2019t want to do it. Senator Kyrsten Sinema will not budge on the filibuster. And <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/news\/senate\/3484601-manchin-to-oppose-democratic-bill-guaranteeing-abortion-access\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Senator Joe Manchin won\u2019t vote for codifying <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We could protect Roe tomorrow, but Sinema refuses to act on the filibuster. Until that changes she can take a seat talking about \u201cwomen\u2019s access to health care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hold everyone contributing to this disaster accountable, GOP &#038; Dem obstructionists included. She should be primaried. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/NWLsixsiNH\">https:\/\/t.co\/NWLsixsiNH<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AOC\/status\/1521530328397099008?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 3, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This will allow the progressives and extreme left talking heads to launch political attacks on traditional and moderate liberals. The Democrats will attempt to use this to change the narrative for voters going into the midterms. And it will exacerbate an already divisive climate in our country.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">What Did Ruth Say?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">While Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg doubtfully would vote to overturn <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>, she was critical of the decision. That isn\u2019t to say she didn\u2019t believe in a woman\u2019s right to an abortion; she didn\u2019t think it was a suitable case for the judgment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Justice Ginsburg would\u2019ve preferred a case she worked on as a lawyer;<em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/history\/2022\/05\/06\/ruth-bader-ginsburg-roe-wade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Struck v. Secretary of Defense<\/a><\/em>. In this case, she argued that her client, an Air Force member who was told she must abort her child to stay in the service, had the right not to have an abortion and remain in the service.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">As for packing the Court, Ginsburg was also on the opposite side of today\u2019s far left, telling NPR, \u201cNine seems to be a good number. It\u2019s been that way for a long time. I think it was a bad idea when President Franklin Roosevelt tried to pack the court.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Since I am a Conservative, it may seem surprising to some, but I always like Justice Ginsburg.
