Greg Abbott (R-TX) vowed to bring the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/border-crisis\">border crisis<\/a> to President Joe Biden\u2019s doorstep, his state <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/texas-will-bus-illegal-immigrants-to-washington-dc-abbott-says\">has sent<\/a> 32 buses of migrants to the nation\u2019s capital, and it has no plans of stopping.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for the governor\u2019s office told the <i>Washington Examiner<\/i> on Thursday that the state\u2019s effort to transport migrants to <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/washington-d-c\">Washington<\/a> has resulted in 835 people being dropped off since the first bus <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/texas-bus-makes-first-migrant-drop-off-near-us-capitol-in-washington\">arrived April 13<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 32 buses have carried an average of 26 people a bus, though the vehicles have the capacity to carry up to 40. The buses are taxpayer funded and free of charge to <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/migrants\">migrants<\/a>. They serve as a means of easing the transportation burden on <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/texas\">Texas<\/a> towns and nonprofit organizations that are overwhelmed as several thousand migrants are released into the country daily.<\/p>\n<p>Abbott, who is seeking a third term in November, <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/texas-will-bus-illegal-immigrants-to-washington-dc-abbott-says\">announced<\/a> April 6 that the state would use emergency evacuation procedures to \u201ctake the border to President Biden\u201d as the number of noncitizens illegally crossing the border from Mexico rose in March to some of the highest levels ever seen.<\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/arizona-becomes-second-border-state-to-bus-migrants-to-washington-dc\">ARIZONA WILL BILL BIDEN FOR COST OF BUSING MIGRANTS TO WASHINGTON<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>The state hired private charter bus companies and security to ride along on the buses for the nonstop trip.<\/p>\n<p>Although Abbott said the move would show Washington what border towns such as <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/texas-town-at-center-of-border-crisis-hasnt-heard-from-biden-team-mayor-says\">Eagle Pass<\/a> and <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/b0DZkB4DCk\">McAllen<\/a> are facing, the operation has not garnered much attention in Washington. Migrants who are dropped off by the buses typically walk to the nearby Union Station and board trains or long-distance buses to continue on to destinations where they have family or friends.<\/p>\n<p>Some Republicans, including former senior Homeland Security official <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/ken-cuccinelli\">Ken Cuccinelli<\/a>, have criticized the busing operation.<\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBusing illegals to D.C. is nice showmanship, but nothing here will change the illegal flow into Texas. Ironically enough, Abbott\u2019s going to slow the legal flow with more burdensome inspections.
