Wade will be overturned.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>\u201c[Democrats are] gonna use every single dirty trick in the book, so I do think that we should be a little more on the offensive,\u201d Carson Steelman, press secretary for Heritage Action, told The Daily Caller News Foundation.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Multiple Republicans in battleground states have emphasized that little will change in their state if Roe was thrown out, while Democrats have argued the opposite.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>\u201cWe\u2019re going to take the Supreme Court ruling where it is right now and wait until this draft really comes through,\u201d Torunn Sinclair, national press secretary for the National Republican Congressional Committee, told the DCNF.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Both Republicans and Democrats have been forced to reconfigure their election strategies only six months before the midterms due to the unprecedented leak from the Supreme Court indicating Roe v. Wade will be overturned.<\/p>\n<p>Many Democrats have made clear they intend to hammer opponents across the aisle on the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/09\/pelosi-fawns-protesters-righteous-anger-scotus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">implications of Roe being overturned<\/a> and while Republicans have celebrated the decision, several have largely focused on <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/05\/house-republicans-john-rose-letter-justice-department-fbi-criminal-investigation-leak-draft-supreme-court-opinion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the leak<\/a> and others have been reluctant to press the abortion issue.<\/p>\n<p>The Republican campaign strategy has instead emphasized other issues ahead of the midterms, such as increased prices due to inflation and the ongoing energy crisis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe top issue is still inflation. People are worried about the rising cost of gas and rising prices at the grocery store. That is what is affecting people\u2019s everyday lives,\u201d Torunn Sinclair, national press secretary for the National Republican Congressional Committee, told The Daily Caller News Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates in battleground races have argued that abortion would likely still exist in their states without Roe. In Nevada, leading Republican Senate primary candidate Adam Laxalt called the decision a \u201chistoric victory\u201d but also said that abortion is \u201ccurrently settled law,\u201d because \u201cthe people of Nevada have already voted to make abortion rights legal in our state,\u201d Politico <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/05\/07\/gop-steers-clear-of-roe-in-2022-battlegrounds-00030880\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In Wisconsin, Republican Sen. Ron Johnson, who faces reelection in November, said \u201cabortion is not going away,\u201d even though it \u201cmight be a little messy for some people,\u201d The Wall Street Journal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/senate-to-vote-on-abortion-access-law-as-supreme-court-weighs-roes-fate-11652274305\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just don\u2019t think this is going to be the big political issue everybody thinks it is, because it\u2019s not going to be that big a change,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7427659\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7427659\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Abortion-rights demonstrators protest in front of the U.S. Supreme Court building on May 10, 2022 in Washington, DC. (Photo by Tasos Katopodis\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Sinclair cited a Texas abortion law passed in 2021 that has already severely restricted abortion access as proof restrictive measures do not hinder Republicans like Democrats expect. The law bans the procedure after a fetal heartbeat is detected, typically around six weeks of pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p>Should Roe be overturned, the state of Texas also has a trigger law that would ban all abortions 30 days after it\u2019s tossed, except in the case where the mother\u2019s life is at risk or there could be \u201csubstantial impairment of major bodily function,\u201d The Texas Tribune <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2022\/05\/03\/texas-abortion-law-roe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, some conservative activists and Republicans have suggested the party go on the offensive on the abortion issue.<\/p>\n<p>Mallory Carroll, vice president of communications at the Susan B. Anthony List, said Republicans need to be more aggressive and use the opportunity to \u201cexpose the extremism\u201d of the Democratic platform, citing Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, who has already gone after Laxalt on the issue, Politico <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/05\/06\/vulnerable-senate-dems-campaign-against-abortion-ban-00030489\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just want to encourage all candidates to go on offense \u2026 regardless of the state because, even in deep-blue states, the level of extremism that Democrats have reached is really untenable,\u201d Carroll told TheDCNF. \u201cThat\u2019s something we\u2019re communicating to all of our candidates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The National Republican Senatorial Committee sent similar <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/05\/republicans-talking-points-roe-wade-mitch-mconnell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">talking points<\/a> to its candidates after the leak, arguing conservatives should go after Democrats by tying them to unpopular abortion policies, like late-term and taxpayer-funded abortions.<\/p>\n<p>A CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/05\/06\/politics\/cnn-poll-abortion-midterms-roe-v-wade\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">poll<\/a> released after the leak showed those in favor of overturning Roe were almost twice as likely to say they were <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/06\/enthusiastic-voters-roe-wade-midterms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">very enthusiastic<\/a> about voting in November compared to those who want to keep the landmark ruling in place. Even among <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/09\/suburban-women-economy-jobs-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pro-choice women in the suburbs<\/a>, a key demographic that Democrats have courted in recent years, the economy is the top concern.<\/p>\n<p>Across the aisle, however, Democrats dove headfirst into the issue, with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi issuing a press release Monday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.speaker.gov\/newsroom\/5922\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stating<\/a>\u00a0the party would \u201cfight relentlessly to enshrine Roe v. Wade as the law of the land.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Liberals have already begun to seize on Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell\u2019s remarks hinting at the possibility Republicans pass a national ban on abortion if Roe is no longer in effect, The Hill <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/news\/senate\/3482362-democrats-seize-on-prospect-of-national-abortion-ban\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/05\/mitch-mcconnell-trolls-donald-trump-old-crow-bourbon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: McConnell Trolls Trump With Monogrammed Whiskey Gift To Fellow Senators)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn light of the Supreme Court\u2019s decision, upcoming decision, Leader McConnell acknowledged that a national ban on abortion is now possible without Roe, if Republicans reclaim the majority \u2014 hear that, America?\u201d Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said in response, The Hill reported.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7427658\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7427658\" class=\"wp-image-7427658 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/GettyImages-1395591532-scaled-1.jpg\" alt=\"Democratic Senators Discuss Next Week&#039;s Vote To Codify Roe v.
