Wade, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/TheView?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#TheView<\/a> panel reacts to Democrat Joe Manchin and every Republican voting against it.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/AEAQjRzDHG\">https:\/\/t.co\/AEAQjRzDHG<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/JvhGVI6oYy\">pic.twitter.com\/JvhGVI6oYy<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The View (@TheView) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheView\/status\/1524772883091832832?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 12, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Goldberg began by acknowledging <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/manchin-destroys-senate-abortion-bill-make-no-mistake-it-is-not-roe-v-wade-codification\/\">the point<\/a> that Manchin had raised when he pointed out that the WHPA would have nullified hundreds of state laws imposing restrictions on abortion, particularly in the later months of pregnancy. But then she took issue with his assertion \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/rnc-polling-abortion-is-not-the-winning-issue-dems-think-it-is\/\">which was also correct<\/a> \u2014 that the majority of the country was not in favor of unlimited abortion through all nine months for any reason.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow do you know where we are today, Joe? How do any of you guys know where we are today? None of you have any uteruses. You don\u2019t have a vagina. You don\u2019t have anything that goes to carrying or making decisions about babies, and I don\u2019t understand,\u201d Goldberg continued. \u201cAll \u2013 it\u2019s supposed to take care of women, and this is the response. It\u2019s, like, so you just don\u2019t give a hoot about what you just did. Okay. Everybody needs to just go vote these fools out of there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Griffin jumped in then, arguing that while she agreed the conversation should be driven by women, the Democrats had pushed forward with a bill that a lot of Americans believed went too far. She pointed to the bill proposed by Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) that would codify access to abortion into federal law but did not present such an extreme scenario.<\/p>\n<p>Co-host Joy Behar argued, as she has before, that it was only the beginning of Republican plans to strip away other rights. \u201cI think there\u2019s a larger issue at stake right now. I think Americans are in denial exactly about what this Republican Party is planning to do,\u201d she explained. \u201cThey would like to overturn voting rights. They would like to overturn gay rights. They\u2019re in the process of overturning women\u2019s rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sunny Hostin pointed out the fact that polling has suggested a majority of Americans are in favor of either keeping\u00a0<em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> in place or codifying a federal right to abortion access, but Griffin pushed back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour numbers are correct, 71 percent \u2013\u201d she began, but Hostin interrupted: \u201cI don\u2019t get the numbers wrong!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s Sunny Hostin!\u201d\u00a0Joy Behar responded.<\/p>\n<p>Griffin went on to note that a majority of Americans also supported some limitations on abortion \u2014 limits that would be thrown out if the WHPA were to pass.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome limitations. But not outlawed,\u201d Hostin objected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut yes, this is an uncomfortable conversation we have to have. At what point does a baby in the womb have rights, separate from a mother?\u201d Griffin asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cListen, it doesn\u2019t matter what you think,\u201d Goldberg shot back. \u201cWhen you think it is. If I don\u2019t think that that\u2019s when it is \u2014\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs that in, is it the ninth month? Is it the third trimester?\u201d Griffin tried again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cListen. I don\u2019t have, I don\u2019t have to tell you \u2014\u201d Goldberg protested.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s none of your business,\u201d Behar added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s your decision, what you do with your body and how your family works. And for me, I don\u2019t care what your religious beliefs are,\u201d Goldberg said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not even a religion.
