Everyone excuses their own side\u2019s behavior while exaggerating the other side\u2019s flaws, foibles, and failures. Yet a number of liberals have taken this to a new level in recent days, warning darkly that conservatives will engage in the very actions the Left has made its <\/span><i><span>sine qua non<\/span><\/i><span> for years. Here are three recent examples:<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Republicans might falsely say their opponents put their lives \u2018in danger\u2019<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span>Rachel Maddow, whose confidence in her own intellect has never been questioned, recently told her viewers she had cracked the code on the very mechanism wiley conservatives will use to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/6-steps-the-democrats-will-take-to-fundamentally-alter-america-and-ensure-their-permanent-power\"><span>undermine democracy<\/span><\/a><span>: Republicans will accuse their political opponents of exaggerated or non-existent threats to their safety. <\/span><span>Maddow <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/politicussarah\/status\/1519866425317412864\"><span>told<\/span><\/a><span> MSNBC viewers on Thursday, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/transcripts\/rachel-maddow-show\/transcript-rachel-maddow-show-4-28-22-n1295050\"><span>April 28<\/span><\/a><span>:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><i><span>If you can talk about that threat as if it\u2019s the worst thing in the world, well, you can use it as a pretext for what you want to do. And if what you want to do is jail your political opposition, or maybe have them killed, well, hype some nonexistent threat that you attached to them, beyond all recognition to justify that. That is how you build a pretext that you need. \u2026 Invent a threat out of whole cloth or take the smallest thing in the world and blow it up into something incomprehensibly massive. And bingo, you have the pretext for anything that you want to do.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>She also talked about hyping up benign situations beyond all recognition and neutralizing opposition through \u201cpropagandistic\u201d repetition.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Rachel Maddow explains Republican tactics to destroy democracy, &#8220;Invent a threat out of whole cloth or take the smallest thing in the world and blow it up into something incomprehensibly massive. And bingo, you have the pretext for anything that you want to do.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/R0IJT4tMox\">pic.twitter.com\/R0IJT4tMox<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Sarah Reese Jones (@PoliticusSarah) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PoliticusSarah\/status\/1519866425317412864?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 29, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>In that curt summary, Maddow explained the <\/span><i><span>modus operandi <\/span><\/i><span>of the Left. To take but a few examples:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>When New York Magazine revealed that Black Lives Matter <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/blm-spent-6-million-buying-a-california-mansion-report\"><span>purchased<\/span><\/a><span> a $5.8 million mansion in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2022\/04\/07\/photos-turns-out-black-lives-matter-bought-a-6-million-california-mansion\/\"><span>Studio City<\/span><\/a><span>, BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10710011\/BLM-blames-media-causing-distress-purchase-6m-mansion-charity-apologizes.html\"><span>condemned<\/span><\/a><span> the article as part of \u201ca long history of attacking [b]lack people and [b]lack women specifically, creating unsafe conditions for us and for our families. \u2026 It\u2019s dangerous, and we should all be trying to stop it.\u201d She previously described herself in \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/04\/06\/blms-patrisse-cullors-slams-racist-report-on-6m-socal-mansion\/\"><span>survival mode<\/span><\/a><span>\u201d following the New York Post\u2019s expose of her <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/where-did-the-millions-of-dollars-donated-to-black-lives-matter-go\"><span>$3.2 million real estate spree<\/span><\/a><span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez regularly employs threat inflation as a part of her <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/the-3-steps-alexandria-ocasio-cortez-takes-to-shut-down-media-criticism\"><span>three-step plan to avoid scrutiny<\/span><\/a><span>. <\/span><span>Last January, when Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) had the temerity to retweet one of her messages, she <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/aoc\/status\/1354848253729234944\"><span>replied<\/span><\/a><span>, \u201cYou almost had me murdered 3 weeks ago\u201d (on January 6). She offered to work with \u201cany other GOP that aren\u2019t trying to get me killed\u201d and concluded by telling him to \u201cresign.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I am happy to work with Republicans on this issue where there\u2019s common ground, but you almost had me murdered 3 weeks ago so you can sit this one out.<\/p>\n<p>Happy to work w\/ almost any other GOP that aren\u2019t trying to get me killed.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime if you want to help, you can resign. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/4mVREbaqqm\">https:\/\/t.co\/4mVREbaqqm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AOC\/status\/1354848253729234944?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 28, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>When Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) described 9\/11 by saying \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/ilhan-omar-trivializes-911-terrorist-attacks-some-ryan-saavedra\"><span>some people did something<\/span><\/a><span>,\u201d President Donald Trump tweeted out her remarks with a video of the burning Twin Towers. The Left promptly dubbed his criticism an invitation to murder. \u201cMembers of Congress have a duty to respond to the President\u2019s explicit attack today.@IlhanMN\u2019s life is in danger,\u201d Ocasio-Cortez <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/ocasio-cortez-says-trump-violently-targeting-omar-ryan-saavedra\"><span>tweeted<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><span> Omar and other members of the Squad parroted the line that criticism equals physical danger.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The legacy media were happy to adopt AOC\u2019s line as their own. The New York Times <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/04\/13\/us\/politics\/trump-ilhan-omar-sept-11.html\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span> \u201cTrump Assails Ilhan Omar With Video of 9\/11 Attacks.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>So were Maddow\u2019s colleagues at MSNBC. \u201cHave you ever thought you would see the president become a physical threat to a member of Congress, let alone any American citizen?\u201d <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/transcripts\/the-last-word\/2019-07-19-msna1255441\"><span>asked<\/span><\/a><span> Joy Reid while guest hosting for Lawrence O\u2019Donnell in July 2019.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Billionaires might dominate the media<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span>When <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/how-elon-musks-twitter-offer-revealed-the-media-for-what-they-are\"><span>Elon Musk announced his bid<\/span><\/a><span> to purchase Twitter, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) said that she worried about billionaires owning key media institutions. \u201c<\/span><span>This deal is dangerous for our democracy,\u201d Warren <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenWarren\/status\/1518702084048179200\"><span>tweeted<\/span><\/a><span> on April 25. \u201cBillionaires like Elon Musk play by a different set of rules than everyone else, accumulating power for their own gain.<\/span><span>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This deal is dangerous for our democracy. Billionaires like Elon Musk play by a different set of rules than everyone else, accumulating power for their own gain. We need a wealth tax and strong rules to hold Big Tech accountable.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Elizabeth Warren (@SenWarren) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenWarren\/status\/1518702084048179200?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 25, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>A Google search <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=%22Elizabeth+Warren%22+%22Jeff+Bezos%22+purchase+%22Washington+Post%22&#038;client=safari&#038;rls=en&#038;biw=1440&#038;bih=714&#038;source=lnt&#038;tbs=cdr%3A1%2Ccd_min%3A1%2F1%2F2013%2Ccd_max%3A1%2F1%2F2015&#038;tbm=\"><span>revealed<\/span><\/a><span> no criticism from Senator Warren when Jeff Bezos, who is worth <\/span><span>an estimated <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/billionaires\/\"><span>$171 billion<\/span><\/a><span>, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national\/washington-post-to-be-sold-to-jeff-bezos\/2013\/08\/05\/ca537c9e-fe0c-11e2-9711-3708310f6f4d_story.html\"><span>purchased<\/span><\/a><span> the most influential newspaper in the nation\u2019s capital, The Washington Post, in 2013. Similarly, Warren appeared to be mum when Bezos gave <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/van-jones-weeps-on-cnn-panel-as-network-calls-race-for-biden\"><span>CNN host <\/span><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/therightswriter.com\/2009\/09\/conspiracy-czar\/\"><span>Van Jones <\/span><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/spread-the-wealth-jeff-bezos-gives-cnn-host-van-jones-100-million-for-charity\"><span>$100 million<\/span><\/a><span> to donate to the charity of his choice. Might that affect CNN\u2019s coverage? Warren seemingly complained about Bezos only after he and three guests took a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/yes-jeff-bezos-im-looking-at-you-elizabeth-warren-renews-call-for-wealth-tax\"><span>flight into space<\/span><\/a><span> on his Blue Origin spacecraft last July.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Warren had nothing to say about the fact that the network she appeared on, MSNBC, is owned by NBC Universal, which is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2013\/03\/comcast-completes-acquisition-nbcuniversal-457181\/\"><span>owned<\/span><\/a><span> by Comcast, which is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1166691\/000119312504059262\/ddef14a.htm\"><span>controlled<\/span><\/a><span> by CEO Brian Roberts, who has an estimated personal net worth of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/profile\/brian-roberts\/?sh=3676a16768be\"><span>$1.5 billion<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Warren apparently <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=%22Elizabeth+warren%22+China+OR+%22Magnum+Opus%22+Forbes&#038;client=safari&#038;rls=en&#038;source=lnt&#038;tbs=qdr:y&#038;sa=X&#038;ved=2ahUKEwi9opq8pMv3AhVPaM0KHXgxDK4QpwV6BAgBEBk&#038;biw=1440&#038;bih=714&#038;dpr=2\"><span>said nothing<\/span><\/a><span> when Forbes, America\u2019s most prominent financial magazine, completed a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10464133\/Forbes-insiders-slam-deal-SPAC-initially-funded-China-sovereign-wealth-fund.html\"><span>$620 million merger<\/span><\/a><span> with the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/video\/hong-kong-spac-agrees-acquire-093000609.html\"><span>Hong Kong-based<\/span><\/a><span> Magnum Opus Acquisition. That special purpose acquisition company received its initial funding from the Chinese government \u2014 which, if its <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-srv\/politics\/special\/campfin\/stories\/cf051698.htm\"><span>campaign donations<\/span><\/a><span> serve as any guide, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/spectator.org\/chinagate-and-the-clintons\/\"><span>favors Democratic candidates<\/span><\/a><span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Indeed, Senator Warren has had no trouble receiving \u201cdonations from more than 30 billionaires during her time in politics,\u201d as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2019\/10\/14\/elizabeth-warren-has-a-history-of-collecting-cash-from-billionaires\/\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span> by the New York Post in October 2019. Only when the billionaire threatens to inject a social media platform with a greater tolerance for free speech does Warren complain. For his part, Musk has shrugged off Warren\u2019s past attacks by calling her \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1470858546153762819\"><span>Senator Karen<\/span><\/a><span>.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Twitter might begin censoring people for their political views<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span>MSNBC\u2019s Ari Melber also fretted over the potential implications of Musk\u2019s Twitter purchase, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/msnbc-host-now-complains-elections-could-be-swayed-through-twitter-censorship\"><span>telling<\/span><\/a><span> his audience on April 25 that it might result in censorship of politicians:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><i><span>If you own all of Twitter, or Facebook or what have you, you don\u2019t have to explain yourself. You don\u2019t even have to be transparent. You could secretly ban one party\u2019s candidate, or all of its candidates, all of its nominees. Or you could just secretly turn down the reach of their stuff and turn up the reach of something else, and the rest of us might not even find out about it until after the election.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>\u201c<\/span><span>Does he not realize all of this was already done to Republicans?\u201d<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ClayTravis\/status\/1518793469677948928\"><span>asked<\/span><\/a><span> talk radio host Clay Travis. Naturally, there are a multitude of examples of Twitter cracking down on conservative speech, including that of elected officials:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span> \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><span>Twitter <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/twitter-confirms-ban-on-trump-permanent-even-if-he-runs-in-2024\"><span>permanently banned<\/span><\/a><span> Donald Trump shortly after he left the Oval Office,<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/twitter-confirms-ban-on-trump-permanent-even-if-he-runs-in-2024\"><span>purportedly<\/span><\/a> <span>\u201cdue to the risk of further incitement of violence.\u201d Twitter subsequently <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/twitter-quickly-suspends-trumps-new-from-the-desk-of-account\"><span>banished<\/span><\/a><span> the Twitter account of Trump\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.donaldjtrump.com\/desk\"><span>website<\/span><\/a><span>, \u201cFrom the Desk of Donald J. Trump,\u201d which shared messages from the 45<\/span><span>th<\/span><span> president of the United States (and an all-but-declared GOP candidate for president in 2024). Yet Twitter <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/cnn-reporter-notes-big-holes-in-twitter-policy-for-banning-trump-but-not-the-taliban\"><span>continues<\/span><\/a><span> to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Zabehulah_M33\/\"><span>allow<\/span><\/a><span> of the \u201cOfficial Twitter Account of the Spokesman of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Zabihullah Mujahid\u201d to tweet out extremism 280 characters at a time;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span> \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><span>In January, Twitter <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/twitter-permanently-bans-us-representative-marjorie-taylor-greene-2022-01-02\/\"><span>permanently banned<\/span><\/a><span> the personal Twitter account of a sitting member of Congress, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), months after \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/joewalsh\/2021\/03\/19\/twitter-says-it-accidentally-locked-rep-marjorie-taylor-greenes-account\/\"><span>accidentally<\/span><\/a><span>\u201d locking her out of her account;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span> \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><span>The platform allegedly <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/hotair.com\/john-s-2\/2018\/07\/25\/vice-twitter-shadow-banning-prominent-republicans-n260816\"><span>shadow-banned<\/span><\/a><span> numerous Republican <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/tech\/twitter-slammed-for-shadow-banning-prominent-republicans\"><span>congressmen<\/span><\/a><span>, including former Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), then offered a dubious denial that it ever <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/bombshell-report-twitter-admits-censoring-ryan-saavedra\"><span>engages<\/span><\/a><span> in such a practice. \u201cWe do not shadow ban,\u201d <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/twitter-argues-its-not-shadowbanning-ben-shapiro\"><span>said<\/span><\/a><span> two company officials. \u201cYou are always able to see the tweets from accounts you follow (although you may have to do more work to find them, like go directly to their profile)\u201d;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span> \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><span>Twitter has locked the accounts of Reps. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/gop-lawmaker-locked-out-of-twitter-after-calling-transgender-biden-official-rachel-levine-a-man\"><span>Jim Banks<\/span><\/a><span> (R-IN) and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fox4kc.com\/news\/twitter-blocked-mo-rep-hartzler-for-violating-rules\/\"><span>Vicki Hartzler<\/span><\/a><span> (R-MO) for upholding biological reality, and \u201cmistakenly\u201d <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kxly.com\/twitter-suspends-restores-personal-account-of-florida-congressman\/\"><span>locked<\/span><\/a><span> the account of then-Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL);<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span> \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><span>When <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/deeply-corrupt-and-a-congenital-liar-an-exclusive-interview-with-the-woman-who-reviewed-hunter-bidens-laptop-firsthand\"><span>Miranda Devine<\/span><\/a><span> of the New York Post exposed the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/exclusive-joe-biden-turned-corruption-into-the-family-business-new-book-alleges\"><span>contents<\/span><\/a><span> of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/exclusive-joe-biden-participated-in-hunters-foreign-business-deals-blockbuster-new-book-reveals\"><span>Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop<\/span><\/a><span> in 2020, Twitter locked the newspaper <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/nypost-remains-locked-out-of-twitter-a-week-after-publishing-bombshell-hunter-biden-report?msclkid=f9826aacb69411ec8677c164ecf25c7d\"><span>out of its account<\/span><\/a><span> and prevented users from sharing the story; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span> \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><span>Even former CEO Jack Dorsey admitted to Congress in 2018 that Twitter\u2019s algorithm, which determines the reach of certain content, has been \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/twitter-ceo-admits-algorithm-has-been-unfair-james-barrett\"><span>unfair<\/span><\/a><span>.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>Ari Melber\u2019s dystopian social media censorship scenario is no idle fancy balanced precariously atop a slippery slope. It has already, in fact, occurred \u2014 without a single complaint from Melber.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On one level, these left-wing complaints are heartening, because they prove that liberals know their actions are immoral.
