Earlier this month, People Magazine, citing sources, reported that Judd died by suicide.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt was a mixed day,\u201d Judd said. \u201cI visit with my mom and pop every day when I\u2019m home in Tennessee, so I was at the house visiting as I am every day. Mom said to me, \u2018Will you stay with me?\u2019 and I said, \u2018Of course I will.\u2019\u2026 I went upstairs to let her know that her good friend was there and I discovered her. I have both grief and trauma from discovering her.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Judd told \u201cGood Morning America\u201d that the family had agreed to share details on her mother\u2019s death to \u201cspread awareness\u201d about mental illness and available treatments for it.<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWhen we\u2019re talking about mental illness, it\u2019s very important and \u2014 to be clear, and to make the distinction between our loved one and the disease,\u201d she continued. \u201cIt\u2019s very real \u2014 and it\u2019s enough to \u2014 it lies. It\u2019s savage.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Judd went on to explain how Naomi \u201ccouldn\u2019t hang on until she was inducted into the Hall of Fame by her peers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThat is the level of catastrophe of what was going on inside of her, because the barrier between the regard in which they held her couldn\u2019t penetrate into her heart, and the lie the disease told her was so convincing,\u201d Judd shared.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Naomi and the rest of the Judds were scheduled to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on May 1. According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/entertainment\/naomi-judd-died-self-inflicted-gunshot-wound-firearm\"><span>Fox News<\/span><\/a><span>, Naomi and daughter Wynonna reunited at the CMA Awards for a performance just weeks prior.
