Wade<\/em>\u00a0and massively expand abortions in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Democratic lawmakers needed 60 votes to move the legislation forward. As expected, they <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/news\/senate\/3485010-senate-gop-manchin-block-abortion-rights-legislation\/\">fell<\/a> more than 10 votes short on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce again \u2013 as fundamental rights are at risk at the Supreme Court \u2013 Senate Republicans have blocked passage of the Women\u2019s Health Protection Act, a bill that affirmatively protects access to reproductive health care,\u201d Biden said.<\/p>\n<p>The president called Republican blocking of the bill a \u201cfailure to act,\u201d claiming that it runs \u201ccounter to the will of the majority of American people\u201d \u2014 though <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/rnc-polling-abortion-is-not-the-winning-issue-dems-think-it-is\">polling<\/a> repeatedly shows that most Americans <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sba-list.org\/polling#late-abortion\">do not support<\/a> unlimited and late-term abortions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRepublicans in Congress \u2013 not one of whom voted for this bill \u2013 have chosen to stand in the way of Americans\u2019 rights to make the most personal decisions about their own bodies, families and lives,\u201d Biden continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo protect the right to choose, voters need to elect more pro-choice senators this November, and return a pro-choice majority to the House,\u201d the president said. \u201cIf they do, Congress can pass this bill in January, and put it on my desk, so I can sign it into law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Women\u2019s Health Protection Act <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysignal.com\/2022\/05\/09\/democrats-push-radical-abortion-bill-far-more-expansive-than-roe\">would have effectively<\/a> prohibited the government from reducing the number of abortions taking place and to repeal any laws already on the books that would potentially inhibit access to abortion.<\/p>\n<p>But Biden said Wednesday that the legislation would ensure \u201cthe health, safety, and progress of our nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile this legislation did not pass today, my Administration will not stop fighting to protect access to women\u2019s reproductive care,\u201d he said. \u201cWe will continue to defend women\u2019s constitutional rights to make private reproductive choices as recognized in\u00a0<em>Roe v.
