It is not genuine footage of the war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ukrainian officials claim their military has destroyed over 1,100 Russian tanks and 2,800 armored vehicles since the start of the Russian invasion in February, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pravda.com.ua\/eng\/news\/2022\/05\/11\/7345439\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pravda<\/a>. Russia recently launched an operation in Ukraine\u2019s Donbas region, while Ukraine is attempting to liberate areas around the city of Kharkiv, NBC News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/world\/putin-appears-committed-long-lasting-war-ukraine-also-digs-rcna28274\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The nearly 11-minute-long Facebook video allegedly shows Ukrainian forces destroying eight Russian tanks with anti-tank missiles. The first two minutes show soldiers firing rockets at vehicles in the distance while the last eight and half minutes show what appears to be aerial footage of drone strikes on armored vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYesterday, Ukrainian forces destroyed eight Russian tanks in the JFO area,\u201d reads the video\u2019s caption. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/04\/15\/fact-check-ukrainian-missile-russian-ship-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: No, This Is Not Footage Of A Ukrainian Missile Blowing Up A Russian Naval Vessel)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The video does not show real events. A reverse image search revealed the footage comes from ARMA 3, a military-style video game published by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemia.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bohemia Interactive<\/a>. The video first appeared May 10 on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=chMMAk291MI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">YouTube<\/a> where it was shared by user <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCsQSeJqOvJpbAD7t8WUH7TA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SonStudio<\/a> with a title that includes the text \u201cMilsim ARMA 3.\u201d The Facebook video includes no such Disclaimer.<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>The second clip featured in the Facebook video is taken from a separate May 10 video posted on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=b2qxHD-uiUM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">YouTube<\/a> by SonStudio titled, \u201cUsing two drones to destroy Russian targets \u2013 UAV Drone | Milsim ARMA 3 D07.\u201d As the title indicates, the footage is likewise from Arma 3.<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<div>This is not the first time clips from the video game have been shared online with misleading captions that claim they show genuine footage from the war in Ukraine. <a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/05\/10\/fact-check-ukraine-drone-strike-russian-warship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Check Your Fact<\/a> recently debunked a viral video that claimed to show Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian warships.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A video\u00a0shared on Facebook allegedly shows Ukrainian forces destroying eight Russian tanks.\u00a0Verdict: FalseThe footage is from a military-style video game.
