Jackson<\/em> opinion signaled the United States Supreme Court\u2019s intent to overturn <em>Roe v. Wade.<\/em> The bill\u2019s intent was to hamper Republican states from passing pro-life laws such as those that restrict the killing of preborn babies, mandate waiting periods, and require ultrasounds. <\/p>\n<p>Senate Republicans joined by Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin, however, voted down the legislation due to its sweeping provisions which would have ensured unlimited abortion on demand, eliminated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/life\/commentary\/womens-health-protection-act-unconstitutional-and-more-radical-roe-v-wade\">parental<\/a> notification laws for minors, nuked <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/2022\/05\/how-the-democrats-abortion-bill-guts-conscience-protections\/\">conscience protections<\/a> for health-care workers, and more. <\/p>\n<p>Despite <a href=\"https:\/\/static.foxnews.com\/foxnews.com\/content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Fox_April-28-May-1-2022_National_Topline_May-3-Release.pdf#page=18\">widespread support<\/a> for restrictions on killing babies in the womb, the Democrats\u2019 bill would have allowed an abortion at any point in gestation for nearly any reason including if a doctor believes the baby in utero is \u201ca risk to the pregnant patient\u2019s life or health,\u201d which presumably includes \u201cemotional health\u201d and the variety of social or economic preferences that could fall under such a broad umbrella.<\/p>\n<p>While the Democrat-controlled Senate failed to get a simple majority to pass the bill, Democrats including President Joe Biden tried to pin the blame for the legislation\u2019s defeat on Republicans. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce again \u2013 as fundamental rights are at risk at the Supreme Court \u2013 Senate Republicans have blocked passage of the Women\u2019s Health Protection Act, a bill that affirmatively protects access to reproductive health care,\u201d Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/mobile.twitter.com\/PhilipWegmann\/status\/1524487560508194816\">said.<\/a><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"471\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screen-Shot-2022-05-11-at-3.52.19-PM-1024x471-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-272364\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screen-Shot-2022-05-11-at-3.52.19-PM-1024x471-1.png 1024w, https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screen-Shot-2022-05-11-at-3.52.19-PM-300x138.png 300w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screen-Shot-2022-05-11-at-3.52.19-PM-768x353-1.png 768w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screen-Shot-2022-05-11-at-3.52.19-PM.png 1196w\"><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"839\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screen-Shot-2022-05-11-at-3.57.15-PM-1024x839-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-272367\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screen-Shot-2022-05-11-at-3.57.15-PM-1024x839-1.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screen-Shot-2022-05-11-at-3.57.15-PM-300x246-1.png 300w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screen-Shot-2022-05-11-at-3.57.15-PM-768x630-1.png 768w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screen-Shot-2022-05-11-at-3.57.15-PM.png 1198w\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m appalled by Senate GOP\u2019s vote to block the Women\u2019s Health Protection Act. Wade<\/em> into law.
