Glenn Youngkin requested on Wednesday that Fairfax County police create an \u201cexpanded security perimeter\u201d around the homes of three conservative Supreme Court justices who have been targeted by left-wing protesters.<\/p>\n<p>Associate Justices Samuel Alito, Amy Coney Barrett, and Clarence Thomas live in Fairfax County, and protesters opposing a draft decision that would overturn Roe v. Wade have already <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/09\/we-will-fight-back-protesters-justice-alitos-house\/\">marched<\/a> outside Alito\u2019s home. Protesters have also <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/09\/abortion-activists-pro-life-groups-vandals-churches\/\">appeared<\/a> outside the Maryland homes of Chief Justice John Roberts and Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Alito <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/justice-alito-cancels-conference-appearance-roe-v-wade-abortion-opinion-leak\">canceled<\/a> an in-person appearance at a judicial conference shortly after the draft leaked, instead addressing attendees remotely.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI fundamentally believe such demonstrations and picketing should not be allowed at the Justice\u2019s homes as they are meant to intimidate and influence the Justices, not to mention, scaring their families and small children,\u201d Youngkin wrote in a letter to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/05\/11\/gov-glenn-youngkin-requests-local-police-establish-expanded-security-perimeter-around-scotus-justices-homes\/\">reported<\/a> by Breitbart News.<\/p>\n<p>Federal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/uscode\/text\/18\/1507\">law<\/a> prohibits \u201cpicket[ing] or parad[ing] in or near a building housing a court of the United States, or in or near a building or residence occupied or used\u201d by judges for the purpose of \u201cinterfering with, obstructing, or impeding the administration of justice, or with the intent of influencing any judge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Youngkin added that he made the request in response to \u201ccredible and specific information received about upcoming activities planned at\u201d the justices\u2019 homes. The bill has not yet passed the House of Representatives, however, with Democrats <a href=\"https:\/\/stanton.house.gov\/press-releases?ID=002B1A61-5820-4B0A-827A-611529B048A2\">proposing<\/a> to add police protection to law clerks. Republican Texas Sen. John Cornyn <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cornyn.senate.gov\/node\/6702\">blasted<\/a> the House legislation in a Wednesday floor speech, citing theories that a clerk leaked Alito\u2019s draft opinion to Politico.<\/p>\n<p>Youngkin previously <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovernorVA\/status\/1523847746024878080\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pledged<\/a> that Virginia State Police would \u201c<span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">assist federal and local law enforcement as needed<\/span>\u201d in securing the justices\u2019 homes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Virginia Gov.
