Wade, a 1973 ruling that granted federal protection to abortion, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/05\/02\/supreme-court-abortion-draft-opinion-00029473\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Politico<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Facebook post alleges that Tennessee has now banned Plan B. \u201ctennessee banned plan b\u2019s we can\u2019t never have nice sht (sic) here,\u201d the post reads. The claim can also be found on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/pamkeithfl\/status\/1523141006509502470?s=21&#038;t=tXKE49Tt-6GQsOsXYnCsvQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter<\/a>, with one viral tweet reading \u201cTennessee just banned Plan B and made it a crime punishable by a $50,000 fine to order it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span>There is no evidence to suggest Tennessee has banned the emergency contraceptive. Check Your Fact found no bill mentioning such a ban on the state legislature\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/wapp.capitol.tn.gov\/apps\/billsearch\/billsearchadvanced.aspx?terms=plan+b&#038;searchtype=all\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>. There are likewise no reports about the alleged ban from local news outlets like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennessean.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the Tennessean<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themoorecountynews.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Moore County News<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/herald-citizen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Herald-Citizen<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The claim appears to stem from confusion about a law signed May 6 by Republican Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee that criminalizes mail-in abortion medicine, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/05\/06\/us\/tennessee-abortion-pills-by-mail-bill\/index.html\">according to CNN<\/a>. However, Plan B is not the same as mail-in abortion medicine, which typically takes the form of the abortion pill.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe morning-after pill, also known as emergency contraception, helps prevent pregnancy; the abortion pill, also known as medication abortion, ends pregnancy,\u201d explains <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/files\/3914\/6012\/8466\/Difference_Between_the_Morning-After_Pill_and_the_Abortion_Pill.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Planned Parenthood<\/a>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/trackbill.com\/bill\/tennessee-house-bill-2416-abortion-as-enacted-enacts-the-tennessee-abortion-inducing-drug-risk-protocol-act-amends-tca-title-4-title-53-title-56-title-63-title-68-and-title-71\/2213744\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bill<\/a> signed by Lee does not mention anything about Plan B or emergency contraceptives<span>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2018\/07\/03\/fact-check-60-million-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Have There Been 60 Million Abortions Since Roe V.
