Per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/05\/11\/business\/consumer-price-inflation-april\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The Consumer Price Index was up 8.3% in the 12 months ended in April, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/cpi.nr0.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bureau of Labor Statistics<\/a>\u00a0reported Wednesday, slightly higher than economists had predicted. It was a decrease from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/04\/12\/economy\/consumer-price-inflation-march\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">8.5% recorded in March<\/a>, which had been the highest level in more than 40 years.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Note the spin from CNN (and much of the legacy media):<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>US inflation took a breather last month for the first time since August. As we <a href=\"https:\/\/redstate.com\/nick-arama\/2022\/05\/10\/bidens-plan-to-reduce-gas-prices-proves-to-be-a-miserable-failure-n562402\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> yesterday, gas prices have hit an all-time high. And President Biden\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/redstate.com\/bonchie\/2022\/05\/10\/joe-biden-tries-to-blame-inflation-on-republicans-his-senility-bites-him-in-the-backside-n562490\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">assurances<\/a>\u201d to the contrary, we most certainly are <a href=\"https:\/\/redstate.com\/nick-arama\/2022\/05\/11\/biden-insults-americans-on-inflation-and-shows-how-far-gone-he-truly-is-n562850\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">focused<\/a> on what this administration is \u2014 and isn\u2019t \u2014 doing in response.<\/p>\n<p>Trust me, the American people would <em>welcome<\/em> an actual breather. If this .2 percent reduction in the\u00a0<em>rate<\/em> of inflation translates into a continued downward trend in the coming months, then great.
