Richard Blumenthal refused to say whether his abortion bill, which the Senate is voting on Wednesday, would prevent states from banning sex-selective abortions, according to National Review.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/05\/democrats-legalize-third-trimester-abortions\/\">Women\u2019s Health Protection Act<\/a>, which is cosponsored by 47 Senate Democrats, would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/117\/bills\/s1975\/BILLS-117s1975is.xml\">enshrine<\/a> a right to elective abortion throughout the first six months of pregnancy and would strike down any state laws banning abortions even in the third trimester in cases wherein a healthcare worker finds that pregnancy could harm a patient\u2019s mental or physical health. It is loosely based off the Roe v. The bill would prevent state protections for children from abortion based on their sex, race, or diagnosis of a genetic abnormality such as Down Syndrome,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/life\/report\/the-truth-about-the-so-called-womens-health-protection-act-radical-proposal-mandate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">wrote<\/a> Melanie Israel, policy analyst at the DeVos Center for Life, Religion and Family at the Heritage Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Republican Maine Sen. Susan Collins and Republican Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski have also previously pointed out that the legislation would strike down bans on sex-selective abortions. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/06\/jen-psaki-joe-biden-abortion-white-house\/\">(RELATED: Psaki Won\u2019t Say If Biden Supports Unrestricted Abortion Up To Moment Of Birth)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe WHPA\u2019s overly broad language far exceeds Roe by striking down state laws such as those that require certain materials to be given to the patient, prohibit sex-based abortions, or require parental or guardian notification for minors seeking an abortion,\u201d read a joint press release from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.collins.senate.gov\/newsroom\/senators-collins-and-murkowski-introduce-bill-to-codify-supreme-court-decisions-on-reproductive-rights_roe-v-wade-and-planned-parenthood-v-casey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Collins<\/a>\u2018 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.murkowski.senate.gov\/press\/release\/senators-collins-and-murkowski-introduce-bill-to-codify-supreme-court-decisions-on-reproductive-rights_roe-v-wade-and-planned-parenthood-v-casey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Murkowski\u2019s<\/a> offices.<\/p>\n<p>The two senators critiqued the bill as too extreme when introducing their own bill codifying the precedents of Roe v. Wade and Casey v.
