Pazienza pleaded not guilty to the charges against her, arguing that she never intended to seriously hurt anyone.<\/p>\n<p>Her attorney, Arthur Aidala, <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/crime\/no-bail-for-lauren-pazienza-in-deadly-manhattan-sidewalk-shove-of-barbara-gustern\/?utm_source=facebook&#038;utm_medium=news_tab\">told<\/a> People that the evidence against his client was unclear and that \u201cthere clearly was no intent to do serious harm to anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pazienza was celebrating her upcoming wedding with her fianc\u00e9 on the night of the shoving incident, The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/05\/10\/nyregion\/lauren-pazienza-vocal-coach-barbara-gustern-bail.html?utm_source=facebook&#038;utm_medium=news_tab&#038;fb_news_token=8G7yz%2BfV57%2BnJNaN5LRjNg%3D%3D.qQtzsY8F5HBbc%2FHhr4Uz0kHCTyQromJypcsLqF%2BiyoDLxIkrsnV8uo4l9esh7RIyInnRgWyrVXbPv1iYMBZeAoRVvzDSapWzhx8wLXSgF8uMmj%2BsGnK75MOfbk%2ByzcSY1OZgno3LEsyBGgPpFjvWq2%2BHPCk9s3YqWNKW5zt%2BTEr8T9puzEwvUuHdo57ltQzkD30T1Eze66VlrZRbasKg9criO56%2BUVCc%2FXljtGM3KnJKO0v2EHqQz1W5gl%2FWzn8LyHVqwPwFVfyaDT3S8MCUxsKIbpcTN66Jl41H%2BTwdax2BQH3QVAyGv9X7hQLyV3yQ\">reported<\/a>. Prosecutors from the Manhattan district attorney\u2019s office said in court that Pazienza had several glasses of wine with her fianc\u00e9 before eventually purchasing food from a food cart and entering Chelsea Park.<\/p>\n<p>A Parks Department employee reportedly told the couple that they had to leave the park since it was going to close soon. In response, Pazienza began screaming at the employee and then turned on her fianc\u00e9. She \u201cthrew her food on to her fianc\u00e9 and stormed out of the park,\u201d prosecutor Justin McNabney told the court, according to the Times.<\/p>\n<p>Her fianc\u00e9 told prosecutors that he started to head home, while Pazienza went a different direction, eventually seeing Gustern, crossing the street, and shoving her to the ground. Pazienza allegedly called Gustern a \u201cb****\u201d before the attack. Afterward, Pazienza called her fianc\u00e9 to reunite, but when they did, she started to yell at him again. Before the two returned home, Pazienza <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/woman-who-allegedly-shoved-broadway-singing-coach-before-her-death-watched-ambulance-and-hid-before-turning-herself-in-authorities-say\">watched<\/a> the ambulance arrive at Gustern\u2019s apartment building.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors went on to say that Pazienza told her fianc\u00e9 that night that she had pushed someone, telling him that the person she pushed \u201cmight have said something to her,\u201d though she couldn\u2019t be sure. Two days later, after seeing the case covered in the media, Pazienza allegedly grew nervous, her fianc\u00e9 told the authorities. He said she showed him an article about the assault and that she eventually told a cousin what she had done.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s when Pazienza\u2019s fianc\u00e9 said she fled to her parents\u2019 home on Long Island, deleted her social media accounts, and removed her wedding website. She also left her cellphone at her aunt\u2019s home. She would later hide out at the aunt\u2019s home.<\/p>\n<p>After police went to Pazienza\u2019s parents\u2019 home and her father said she wasn\u2019t there, she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/woman-turns-herself-in-for-allegedly-shoving-vocal-teacher-who-taught-blondies-debbie-harry-causing-her-death\">turned herself in<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe now know from the substance of the defendant\u2019s confession and the victim\u2019s own description of the incident that this was an intentional act,\u201d McNabney said in court, according to the Times. \u201cThere is no evidence whatsoever to support any inference that this was accidental or merely reckless.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McNabney asked that Pazienza be held without bail, arguing that she was a flight risk, an assessment her attorneys John Esposito and John Leventhal disputed.
