Whatever the decision is, Attorney General Merrick Garland will have the final say.<\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/hollywood-megalawyer-paid-off-hunter-bidens-2m-delinquent-tax-bill-report\">HOLLYWOOD MEGALAWYER PAID OFF HUNTER BIDEN&#8217;S $2M DELINQUENT TAX BILL: REPORT<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>The <i>Washington Examiner<\/i> reached out to the Justice Department for comment on the report, and the <i>New York Times<\/i> said multiple attempts to reach Biden through his lawyer were unsuccessful. Some of the files associated with a laptop believed to have belonged to Biden are being scrutinized for &#8220;possible violations of tax, money laundering and foreign-lobbying laws,&#8221; according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>Biden, who revealed the existence of an inquiry into his tax affairs just after the 2020 election, claimed in April of last year to be <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/hunter-biden-cooperating-completely-with-federal-investigators\">&#8220;100% certain&#8221;<\/a> he will be cleared of wrongdoing.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/hunter-biden-grand-jury-witness-asked-about-big-guy-report\">A grand jury<\/a> in Wilmington, Delaware, has been gathering evidence in recent months. A witness was even asked to identify the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/hunter-biden-business-partner-says-big-guy-email-about-china-deal-is-genuine-and-refers-to-joe-biden\">infamous &#8220;big guy&#8221;<\/a> mentioned in discussions regarding a Chinese business deal involving Biden, the <i>New York Post<\/i> reported in early April.<\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>The question came up after this person, who was not identified, was shown a piece of evidence before the grand jury, a <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/04\/04\/hunter-biden-grand-jury-witness-was-asked-about-deal-with-chinese-firm-and-the-big-guy\/?utm_source=twitter_sitebuttons&#038;utm_medium=site%20buttons&#038;utm_campaign=site%20buttons\">source told the<\/a> news outlet. The answer that was given was not reported, though some have claimed the &#8220;big guy&#8221; is President Joe Biden, raising the prospect that the commander in chief could be drawn into a federal criminal investigation.
