Wade<\/em>, which federally legalized abortion in the United States, is unconstitutional. According to a Saturday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/05\/07\/supreme-court-abortion-roe-roberts-alito\/\">report<\/a> from The Washington Post, \u201cas of last week, the majority of five justices to strike\u00a0<em>Roe<\/em>\u00a0remains intact, according to three conservatives close to the court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Published in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/05\/02\/supreme-court-abortion-draft-opinion-00029473\">Politico<\/a> last week, the leaked February draft opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito makes clear that <em>Roe<\/em> \u201cmust be overruled,\u201d with the high court noting how it\u00a0\u201cwas egregiously wrong from the start\u201d and that its \u201creasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people\u2019s elected representatives,\u201d Alito wrote.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Alito, the majority is comprised of Justices Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett, according to the Politico and Post reports.<\/p>\n<p>Noticeably absent from the majority opinion, however, is Chief Justice John Roberts, who is reportedly set to join the Democrat-appointed justices in opposing the rectification of the high court\u2019s previous rulings on abortion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA person close to the most conservative members of the court said Roberts told his fellow jurists in a private conference in early December that he planned to uphold the state law and write an opinion that left\u00a0<em>Roe<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Casey<\/em>\u00a0in place for now,\u201d The Washington Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/05\/07\/supreme-court-abortion-roe-roberts-alito\/\">report<\/a> said in reference to the <em>Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/em> case. \u201cBut the other conservatives were more interested in an opinion that overturned the precedents, the person said.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the past, Roberts has notably joined the leftist justices of the court in opposing laws that restore legal protections to the unborn. In June 2020, the chief justice was the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/scotus-strikes-down-louisiana-law-that-placed-restrictions-on-abortion-clinics\">deciding vote<\/a> in a case striking down a Louisiana law \u201crequiring that individuals who perform\u00a0abortions\u00a0at clinics have admitting privileges in a nearby hospital,\u201d with the majority arguing that the law \u201cplace[d] an undue burden on women seeking abortions.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Roberts also joined his fellow constitutionally illiterate colleagues last year in opposing Texas\u2019 six-week abortion ban, with the chief justice laughably <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scotusblog.com\/2021\/12\/court-leaves-texas-six-week-abortion-ban-in-effect-and-narrows-abortion-providers-challenge\/\">implying<\/a> that women have a federal right to an abortion under the U.S. Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>The Texas law \u201chas had the effect of denying the exercise of what we have held is a right protected under the Federal Constitution,\u201d Roberts wrote. The law\u2019s \u201cclear purpose and actual effect\u201d has been \u201cto nullify this Court\u2019s rulings \u2026 The nature of the federal right infringed does not matter; it is the role of the Supreme Court in our constitutional system that is at stake.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Roberts Continues to Play Politician<\/h2>\n<p>As if his faulty jurisprudence on the issue wasn\u2019t bad enough, Roberts is also reportedly attempting to prevent the court from overturning <em>Roe<\/em>, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/majority-vote-overturn-roe-remains-intact\">reports<\/a> alleging that the chief justice is actively trying \u201cto persuade Coney Barrett and Kavanaugh to take a more incremental approach to allowing\u00a0abortion restrictions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Such actions are not unheard of for Roberts, who in 2012 attempted to convince Justice Anthony Kennedy to switch his position on the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/05\/03\/john-roberts-cowardice-on-obamacare-is-why-the-left-thinks-it-can-bully-and-extort-scotus\/\">unconstitutionality of Obamacare to obtain<\/a> the leftist corporate media\u2019s approval of Supreme Court jurisprudence. After initially siding with his fellow Republican-appointed justices, Roberts cut a last-minute deal with the leftist justices to preserve the Affordable Care Act by falsely deeming the law\u2019s individual mandate as a part of Congress\u2019s taxing power.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRoberts pays attention to media coverage. As chief justice, he is keenly aware of his leadership role on the court, and he also is sensitive to how the court is perceived by the public,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/roberts-switched-views-to-uphold-health-care-law\/\">reported<\/a> CBS News\u2019 Jan Crawford in 2012. \u201cThere were countless news articles in May warning of damage to the court \u2013 and to Roberts\u2019 reputation \u2013 if the court were to strike down the mandate \u2026 It was around this time that it also became clear to the conservative justices that Roberts was, as one put it, \u2018wobbly.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Whether it\u2019s the Obamacare decision or <em>Dobbs<\/em>, Roberts\u2019 overtly political actions aren\u2019t preserving the image of the court in the eyes of the American people; they\u2019re destroying it. The primary responsibility of a judge is not to center judicial decisions on either the prejudices of the leftist press or the whims of the American public, whose opinions fluctuate on a regular basis, but to ignore such political noise and interpret the Constitution as written. Anything short of this is merely political gamesmanship. <\/p>\n<p>Roberts\u2019 bid to play politician is not only professionally grotesque, but it\u2019s no different than what past justices have done in some of the most highly contentious SCOTUS cases in U.S. history. Just as the justices ruling in <em>Plessy v. Ferguson<\/em> and <em>Dred Scott v.
