While Americans will feel this pain each time they go to gas up their vehicles, the worst pain point may well be what\u2019s happening with diesel and diesel prices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wthr.com\/article\/news\/local\/average-gas-price-united-states-jumps-15-cents\/531-cfdc14e5-74a2-4d0a-a3bc-7e6de43bcc9b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">average price of diesel<\/a> is $5.58 per gallon, and in New York, it has reached $6.282 per gallon. With <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbs8.com\/article\/news\/local\/working-for-you\/diesel-fuel-prices-supply-chains\/509-b260863c-7311-40b6-93a3-37a05392b9e3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">86% of all things we eat and wear coming from a truck<\/a>, according to Phillip Harris of the United Truck Driving School, this is bound to hurt Americans.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>And if that\u2019s not enough, well over half of all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.farm-equipment.com\/articles\/18829-the-power-conundrum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">farm equipment runs<\/a> on diesel.<\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Slave to Green New Deal<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">President Biden wasted no time hitting the first domino on a chain of collapsing energy policies that have brought us to today. Between restricting drilling on federal lands and blocking the completion of the Keystone XL pipeline, the Biden administration signaled exactly where things would be heading.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">So why do it? To pander to the progressive Green New Deal team in a dangerous quest to push energy policies that handcuff the industry instead of helping it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This ideologically driven policy is even, apparently, bound for the military:\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/bidens-green-military-is-absolute-nonsense\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read about Biden\u2019s Green Military Here<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Unforeseen Repercussion of Ukraine-Russia War<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/04\/21\/from-food-to-inflation-the-russia-ukraine-war-has-a-global-impact.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ukraine-Russia region is seen as one of the \u2018breadbaskets\u2019 of the world<\/a>. Unfortunately, the hard reality is there isn\u2019t enough child labor available in Africa to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wilsoncenter.org\/blog-post\/drc-mining-industry-child-labor-and-formalization-small-scale-mining#:~:text=Of%20the%20255%2C000%20Congolese%20mining,own%20tools%2C%20primarily%20their%20hands.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mine enough cobalt<\/a> to transition our trucks and heavy farm equipment to electric in time to ease this financial burden.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">As for fixes, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/markets\/gas-prices-hit-new-all-time-high\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">President Biden told Congress<\/a> to make oil companies pay fees on idled oil wells and non-producing acres on federal lands, with the idea being that companies would rather put those areas into production rather than pay to sit idle. Oil wells he stalled out when he took office, mind you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Like most things, there is more to this issue than just drilling. The overall refining capacity in the United States has decreased for numerous reasons. You could argue that the COVID pandemic played a role in this decrease, as it has played a role in just about anything that frustrates this administration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">After all, safety does matter, and some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/05\/07\/diesel-fuel-is-in-short-supply-as-prices-surge-heres-what-that-means-for-inflation.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">refiners are undergoing routine maintenance<\/a> checks that were overdue following pandemic shutdowns.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In short, it\u2019s a perfect storm.<\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Highs and the Lows<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">While regular gasoline, diesel, food, and lumber prices have all gone up, some things have gone down. For example, our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/politics\/push-to-arm-ukraine-may-put-strain-on-u-s-weapons-stockpile\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stinger and Javelin inventory<\/a> are mainly down due to our support to Ukraine and supply chain issues. Likewise, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/05\/07\/diesel-fuel-is-in-short-supply-as-prices-surge-heres-what-that-means-for-inflation.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">inventories of diesel, heating oil and jet fuel have been at the lowest.\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The United States isn\u2019t the only country that faces highs and lows. According to Stephen Brennock at Brokerage PVM, the European Union\u2019s possible ban on Russian oil imports will\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201c\u2026have an outsized impact on product markets and especially diesel\u2026there is now growing anxiety that Europe might run out of diesel.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Suppose the world faces what appears to be a quickly approaching food scarcity crisis. In that case, there is no doubt more dominoes will fall in this crisis, including civil unrest in poorer areas of the world like Africa and the Middle East. Areas that are already generally in a steady state of turmoil.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">No Real Solution in Sight<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">President Biden made remarks today on inflation and provided much the same talking points that we\u2019ve heard since he took office. It\u2019s COVID\u2019s fault; the Republicans don\u2019t have a plan; we need clean energy, and it\u2019s #PutinsPriceHike.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">When I lay my head down at night, the last thing on my mind is how the government will make our country more dependent on clean energy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">How can I save money at the grocery store when I have two kids who thankfully are excellent eaters but plow through my weekly grocery stockpile in about three days?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">It\u2019s about what we can do at home instead of spending family time out and about so I can save money on gas. Looks like a return to board games for this family. While I enjoy a rousing game of Chutes and Ladders just as much as the next mom, the end of the pandemic meant a chance to get back out and explore this wonderful country and all it has to offer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">According to Yardeni Research, the average American household will pay almost $2,000 more for gas this year with $1,000 more in groceries.
