The neighbor told <a href=\"https:\/\/www1.cbn.com\/cbnnews\/us\/2022\/may\/alitos-neighbor-plays-tis-so-sweet-to-trust-in-jesus-as-pro-abortionists-protest-justices-house\">Standing for Freedom Center Editor-in-Chief John Wesley Reid<\/a> that the act brought some solace despite the rage and chaos outside.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted to do something beautiful and thoughtful to counter the noise, the chaos, the sadness of those protesting life in front of an empty house,\u201d the neighbor, who asked not to be identified, told Reid. \u201cThere is nothing more steadfast and measured than the joy of worshipping our Savior through precious hymns.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Alito\u2019s neighbor plays \u201cTis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus\u201d on piano with window open as pro-aborts picket <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Alito?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Alito<\/a> home.<\/p>\n<p>Quote: \u201cI wanted to do something to counter the noise\u2026There is nothing more steadfast than the joy of worshipping our Savior through precious hymns.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/8jUk1htSMO\">pic.twitter.com\/8jUk1htSMO<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 John Wesley Reid (@johnwesleyreid) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/johnwesleyreid\/status\/1524032799501697037?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 10, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Protests have taken place outside the homes of the five Supreme Court justices who signed onto Alito\u2019s draft opinion, which would overturn the landmark 1973 decision that made the right to abortion a constitutional right. Protesters have also gathered outside the home of Chief Justice John Roberts, whose position on the opinion remains unknown.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday night, about 60 protesters gathered outside Alito\u2019s home led by activists with ShutDownDC, a leftist group that frequently protests for progressive causes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAbort the court! Abort the court!\u201d protesters chanted as police from the city of Alexandria and Fairfax County looked on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cF*** the Court and the legislature!\u00a0We are not your incubator!\u201d others chanted.<\/p>\n<p>Other neighbors joined the protest, telling The Daily Wire\u00a0they supported the demonstration in their own residential neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am pro-choice because I really think that no one should dictate the woman\u2019s right about her reproductive \u2026 system,\u201d 77-year-old Aija Karlsons told The Daily Wire.<\/p>\n<p data-testid=\"paragraph-0\">The leak of the draft and publication by Politico stunned the nation and reignited the long-running debate about abortion. The opinion would decide the\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/supct\/cert\/19-1392\">Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization <\/a><\/em>\u00a0case, a challenge to a Mississippi law greatly restricting the federal right to abortion granted by the <em>Roe<\/em> decision. Alito wrote that <em>Roe<\/em>\u00a0and a subsequent case, <em>Planned Parenthood v. Casey<\/em>, which upheld <em>Roe<\/em>, both must be overturned, and the right to allow, deny, or restrict the right to an abortion must reside with states.<\/p>\n<p data-testid=\"paragraph-0\">\u201c<em>Roe<\/em>\u00a0was egregiously wrong from the start,\u201d the 98-page opinion states. \u201cWe hold that <em>Roe<\/em> and <em>Casey<\/em> must be overruled.
