Look no further than the absurdity of labeling mothers \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/using-the-term-birthing-people-erases-women\"><span>birthing people<\/span><\/a><span>,\u201d calling abortion \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/pro-abortion-protesters-allegedly-take-abortion-pills-outside-of-supreme-court\"><span>healthcare<\/span><\/a><span>,\u201d rebranding pedophiles as \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/minor-attracted-person-inside-the-growing-effort-to-destigmatize-pedophilia\"><span>minor-attracted persons<\/span><\/a><span>,\u201d or insisting that \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/olympic-medical-and-science-director-says-everyone-agrees-trans-women-are-women-praises-trans-weightlifter\"><span>trans women are women<\/span><\/a><span>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Although conservatives may scoff at such absurdities, the rapid leftward shift of American political culture \u2014 driven largely by this doublespeak \u2014 inevitably drags well-meaning conservatives along for the ride. In his essay \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.orwellfoundation.com\/the-orwell-foundation\/orwell\/essays-and-other-works\/politics-and-the-english-language\/\"><span>Politics and the English Language<\/span><\/a><span>,\u201d novelist George Orwell observed: \u201cIf thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought. A bad usage can spread by tradition and imitation, even among people who should and do know better.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>What are some of the \u201cbad usages\u201d that have crept into the Right\u2019s speech?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>\u201cAbortion Kills Babies\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>Few conversations contain more euphemisms than that surrounding abortion. As previously mentioned, the Left makes the ludicrous claim that \u201cabortion is healthcare.\u201d They also use phrases like \u201ca woman\u2019s right to choose,\u201d \u201cterminate a pregnancy,\u201d and \u201cfetus\u201d \u2014 the Latin word meaning \u201cbaby\u201d \u2014 so that they can more comfortably talk about murdering human beings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Yet among conservatives \u2014 the same group that argues \u201cguns don\u2019t kill people, <\/span><i><span>people <\/span><\/i><span>kill people\u201d \u2014 the phrase \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LilaGraceRose\/status\/1521546513708552192\"><span>abortion kills babies<\/span><\/a><span>\u201d has gained significant traction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Let\u2019s further develop the firearm example. It is, in a sense, correct to say that a gun kills a person. It is also, in a sense, correct to say that a bullet kills a person. Yet the problem with asserting that \u201cguns kill people\u201d is the intentional obfuscation of the morality behind the action. <\/span><i><span>People <\/span><\/i><span>kill people \u2014 not the tools or the means by which they do the killing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Murdering someone with a firearm is not a morally neutral event. Unless you are the most ardent materialist to ever walk the face of the earth, murder via firearm is not morally equivalent to, say, a bridge collapsing and crushing the unfortunate soul who happened to be walking underneath.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Those on the Right, however, frequently say that \u201cabortion kills babies.\u201d To borrow from pro-gun language \u2014 \u201cabortion doesn\u2019t kill babies, <\/span><i><span>people <\/span><\/i><span>kill babies.\u201d To be even more precise, mothers and fathers pay hitmen \u2014 abortionists \u2014 to murder their children, usually <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/analysis-most-women-who-get-abortions-live-in-blue-states-cite-career-ambitions-have-already-given-birth\"><span>for the sake of convenience<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>If abortion is ever to end, <\/span><i><span>conservatives must be honest about the matter<\/span><\/i><span> \u2014 and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/how-an-mlb-pitcher-and-gun-rights-lobbyist-are-teaming-up-to-abolish-abortion-one-state-at-a-time\"><span>pass laws that do the same<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>\u201cBiological Man\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>The Left\u2019s transgender craze is awash with contradictions. Again, as previously mentioned, Americans are expected to believe that men can conceive and give birth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Transgender ideologues believe that sex is a biological construct while gender is a sociological construct. As Michael Knowles <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/knowles-why-lefts-arguments-about-gender-make-no-daily-wire\"><span>pointed out<\/span><\/a><span> a few years ago, progressive activists have no problem with saying \u201cbiologically female penises\u201d or \u201cbiologically male uteruses.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Yet conservatives\u2019 osmotic adoption of the term \u201cbiological man\u201d \u2014 or \u201cbiological woman\u201d \u2014 gives ground to LGBTQ ideology by acknowledging that <\/span><i><span>one can be a man in some way other than biological<\/span><\/i><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>One\u2019s sex, of course, is derived from one\u2019s DNA. Even from their embryonic state, men have one X chromosome and one Y chromosome, while women have two X chromosomes. Changing one\u2019s genetics is impossible \u2014 and perhaps the best way to make oneself existentially miserable is to go to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realDailyWire\/status\/1513659603149627409\"><span>war with one\u2019s own biology<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Although conservatives would ostensibly agree with the above, what exactly do they <\/span><i><span>mean <\/span><\/i><span>by the term \u201cbiological man\u201d? Can someone be a \u201cspiritual man\u201d? Perhaps an \u201cemotional man\u201d?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Especially for conservatives who profess Christianity and belief in the Bible \u2014 which teaches that human beings are matter-spirit composites, and that God grants men and women distinct roles and duties \u2014 the term \u201cbiological man\u201d is all the more confusing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>\u201cCulture War\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>To a large extent, the tension in American life is cultural. Roughly speaking, there exist two fundamentally juxtaposed cultures in the United States: those who are deeply influenced by biblical ethics and lead lives with at least some mind toward a personal, just God; and those who are increasingly nonreligious and driven by secular ideology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Influential voices in the latter group, however, disparage this conflict with the term \u201cculture war\u201d \u2014 especially when discussing topics like LGBTQ ideology, abortion, education, and any other issue that pertains to the nuclear family or threatens to undo it altogether.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The term \u201cculture war,\u201d at least for those on the Left, is not meant as a sincere description of America\u2019s cultural divides. <\/span><i><span>It is a <\/span><\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/23036009\/disney-culture-war-desantis-florida-dont-say-gay\"><i><span>tool used to scoff<\/span><\/i><\/a><i><span> at those who would dare stick to their old-fashioned morality while encouraging others to do the same<\/span><\/i><span>. Even as the Left determinedly seeks to legislate that morality \u2014 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/california-democrats-are-pushing-a-bill-opening-the-door-to-decriminalizing-infanticide-pro-lifers-warn\"><span>scrapping limits on abortion<\/span><\/a><span>, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/california-state-senator-fights-for-bill-that-could-alter-sex-offender-registration-for-gay-sex-with-minors\"><span>decriminalizing pedophilia<\/span><\/a><span>, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/california-transgender-inmates-will-be-separated-according-to-their-gender-identity\"><span>making female inmates bunk up with men<\/span><\/a><span> \u2014 they want to deter the Right from legislating theirs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>However, there is no neutrality. It is not <\/span><i><span>whether <\/span><\/i><span>morality will be legislated, but <\/span><i><span>whose <\/span><\/i><span>morality will be legislated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Use the term \u201cculture war\u201d with caution. Some conservatives have redeemed it \u2014 using it to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MattWalshBlog\/status\/1455705909464866825\"><span>emphasize their victories<\/span><\/a><span> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JDVance1\/status\/1521327833104146438\"><span>point out leftist insanity<\/span><\/a><span>. At the same time, do not allow the Left to leverage the term as a way to disparage your involvement in debates on matters that threaten to tear America asunder.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>\u201cUnapologetically Pro-Life\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>During his 2020 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=VTDfxI_HOtc\"><span>vice presidential debate<\/span><\/a><span> against Kamala Harris, Mike Pence uttered the famous line: \u201cI\u2019m pro-life, I don\u2019t apologize for it.\u201d A similar statement \u2014 \u201cI am unapologetically pro-life\u201d \u2014 has since reverberated among conservative <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenBillCassidy\/status\/1521566989826904068\"><span>lawmakers<\/span><\/a><span> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/StudentsforLife\/status\/1408587060764549120\"><span>pro-life groups<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Once again, on its face, there is absolutely no problem with unapologetically supporting the sanctity of life for preborn babies. Yet perhaps that is where the problem with the phrase lies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Imagine saying \u201cI am unapologetically anti-slavery\u201d or \u201cI am unapologetically anti-Holocaust.\u201d <\/span><i><span>There is no shame \u2014 no need to apologize \u2014 for opposing large-scale injustice<\/span><\/i><span>, no matter what those on the side of that injustice may say. Tacking the word \u201cunapologetically\u201d onto the term \u201cpro-life\u201d needlessly surrenders ground to the notion that one should be ashamed of opposing abortion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Consider Ben Shapiro\u2019s advice on what to do if someone <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=igZ11wuebHE\"><span>wrongly accuses you of racism<\/span><\/a><span>: \u201cIf someone calls you a \u2018racist\u2019 with no evidence, your proper response should not be \u2018Well that\u2019s reasonable, let\u2019s have a conversation about this.\u2019 Because once you do that, you acknowledge that a reasonable person might think you\u2019re a racist. Which means you\u2019re a racist.
