Wholesale inflation rose by an even greater rate year-over-year, soaring\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/wholesale-inflation-surges-11-2-breaking-another-record\">11.5% annually<\/a>\u00a0in March, and achieving the highest producer inflation rate on record. The Federal Reserve\u2019s favored measure of inflation, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/the-feds-favorite-inflation-measure-hits-four-decade-high\">Personal Consumption Index<\/a>, rose 6.6% annually, also another 40-year record.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Biden claimed in March, \u201cThe American people think the reason for inflation is government spending more money. It\u2019s simply not true.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But as the John Locke Foundation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.johnlocke.org\/government-spending-is-the-cause-of-not-the-antidote-for-record-inflation\/\">explained<\/a> in January, \u201cThe current bout of inflation stems from massive spending: in 2020 and 2021, the government spent the equivalent of 27% of GDP on \u2018Covid relief\u2019 and \u2018stimulus,\u2019 the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/taxfoundation.org\/us-covid19-fiscal-response\/?utm_source=Tax+Foundation+Newsletters&#038;utm_campaign=74fbe498cb-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_10_17_07_28_COPY_01&#038;utm_medium=email&#038;utm_term=0_8387957ec9-74fbe498cb-429700478&#038;mc_cid=74fbe498cb&#038;mc_eid=aa69ab4bd2\">second-largest fiscal response<\/a>\u00a0as a percentage of GDP\u00a0of any industrialized nation. And this spending was largely paid for by newly created money from the Federal Reserve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrillions in government spending resulted in an economy bloated with cheap money,\u201d they continued. \u201cDue to the dramatic spending and the countless downstream effects of the reactions to the pandemic, solutions to inflation are neither quick nor straightforward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even a traditional liberal like Bill Maher has eviscerated the Biden administration for its fervent desire to ramp up spending. Appearing on Joe Rogan\u2019s podcast in April, Maher <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/pigs-at-the-trough-bill-maher-blasts-bidens-build-back-better-and-government-spending-during-covid\/\">snapped<\/a>, \u201cYou know, when I hear about Build Back Better, okay, look, certainly the country needs to get rebuilt. But I\u2019m thinking always, like, when you give me a number, it just seems like you pulled it out of your a**. It\u2019s gonna cost $1.5 billion. We know that for \u2014 and it came in right at that round number, huh, to rebuild this or something? And are we going over this with a fine tooth [comb]? What if we only spent $1.2 billion, or trillion, I\u2019m undercounting it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat if we only spent $1.2 trillion?\u201d he continued. \u201cWhat would we be sacrificing? Anything?
