The spike also comes despite efforts from the Biden administration to <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/oil-prices-slide-as-biden-weighs-huge-release-from-strategic-petroleum-reserve\">reduce pain at the pump,<\/a> including calling on oil and gas producers to<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/energy-environment\/daily-on-energy-ethanol-and-refinery-interests-try-to-use-gas-prices-in-war\"> ramp up production<\/a> and ordering the release of millions of barrels of oil from the U.S. emergency stockpile. <\/p>\n<div class=\"Enhancement\">\n<div class=\"Enhancement-item\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The administration said in March it would <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/oil-prices-slide-as-biden-weighs-huge-release-from-strategic-petroleum-reserve\">release 180 million barrels of oil<\/a> from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve, the largest-ever single release from the reserves since their creation in 1974. <\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s war in Ukraine and an increase in demand nationwide have contributed to the increase in fuel prices. <\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/b> <\/p>\n<p>Energy prices overall have risen by about a third over the past year, contributing to the soaring inflation that has dented President Joe Biden&#8217;s approval ratings and undercut support for his agenda.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The average price of gas in the U.S. rose to a new record high on Tuesday of $4.37 a gallon, according to AAA.
