News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The request was for a role in an advertisement for a chocolate product.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ve seen the movie When Harry Met Sally?\u201d Driver wrote in the book about what the director said to her. \u201cYou know the scene where she fakes an orgasm? OK. Eat a piece of chocolate and do that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFake an orgasm?\u201d the superstar actress asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes,\u201d the executive replied, she wrote. \u201cUnless you fancy having a real one.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The actress was labelled \u2018difficult\u2019 early in her career because she spoke out against sexism and abuse. Now she\u2019s considered a trailblazer <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/C1m90BIJ3Y\">https:\/\/t.co\/C1m90BIJ3Y<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Times (@thetimes) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/thetimes\/status\/1522901958327259140?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 7, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The \u201cReturn to Me\u201d star said she was asked to do it more than once, the first time \u201cnormally\u201d and then again in a \u201cbigger\u201d way for a Dutch market.<\/p>\n<p>The actress explained how she just wanted to get out of there and warn the actresses outside that the audition was basically \u201cvying for an opportunity that was actually humiliation dressed up in a pick-me! outfit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted to tell them we were better than this, better than being lunchtime entertainment for a bunch of pervy execs, their perviness sanctioned by this being considered \u2018work,&#8217;\u201d Driver <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeed.com\/larryfitzmaurice\/minnie-driver-faked-orgasm-audition?d_id=3482388&#038;ref=bftwbuzzfeed&#038;utm_source=dynamic&#038;utm_campaign=bftwbuzzfeed\">shared.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>She said she did end up doing it once. But when she told them she wasn\u2019t sure about being able to do it again she was allegedly told, \u201cCourse you can, love, that\u2019s the best bit about being a girl!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When she made it clear she wouldn\u2019t do it again or \u201cwill throw up,\u201d the actress wrote that the director \u201csneered,\u201d \u201crolled his eyes,\u201d and told her, \u201cWell, all the other girls have apparently very much enjoyed this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Driver grabbed her coat and left the audition, telling the execs, \u201cThey were faking it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She wrote that when she got home there was a message on her answering machine indicating she had been labeled \u201cdifficult\u201d at the tryout.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI knew I\u2019d now been marked,\u201d Driver wrote. \u201cBranded with a scarlet D that often comes with saying \u2018no\u2019 as an actress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2018, the \u201cCircle of Friends\u201d star also talked about what she called the #MeToo world she grew up in when she tried out for the part in the chocolate bar commercial.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI f***ing did it,\u201d Driver shared <a href=\"https:\/\/www.backstage.com\/uk\/magazine\/article\/minnie-drivers-worst-audition-ever-was-also-a-metoo-wake-up-call-65868\/\">at the time<\/a>. \u201cI knew it was wrong, and I still did it. I was embarrassed and mortified, and I didn\u2019t understand it until years later.
