Wade draft opinion.<\/p>\n<p>Outgoing White House press secretary Jen Psaki issued a new statement Monday noting that while President Joe Biden \u201cstrongly believes in the Constitutional right to protest,\u201d the events \u201cshould never include violence, threats, or vandalism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJudges perform an incredibly important function in our society, and they must be able to do their jobs without concern for their personal safety,\u201d Psaki wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The press secretary\u2019s latest statement marks a difference from the administration\u2019s stance on pro-choice protests last week.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/POTUS?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@POTUS<\/a> strongly believes in the Constitutional right to protest. But that should never include violence, threats, or vandalism. Judges perform an incredibly important function in our society, and they must be able to do their jobs without concern for their personal safety.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jen Psaki (@PressSec) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PressSec\/status\/1523649143951962115?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 9, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/06\/jen-psaki-joe-biden-abortion-white-house\/\">Psaki<\/a> was pressed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/press-briefings\/2022\/05\/05\/press-briefing-by-press-secretary-jen-psaki-may-5-2022\/\">on Friday<\/a> about progressive activists\u2019 plans to protest outside some of the Supreme Court justices\u2019 homes. The press secretary called it an example of \u201cpeaceful protest\u201d and said that \u201cpeaceful protest is not extreme.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When pushed on whether Biden would urge activists against going into residential <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/06\/psaki-bidenpro-abortion-protesters-influence-scotus-justices\/\">neighborhoods<\/a> to protest, Psaki said the administration \u201cencourage[s]\u201d peaceful protesting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think our view here is that peaceful protest \u2014 there\u2019s a long history in the United States and the country of that. And we certainly encourage people to keep it peaceful and not resort to any level of violence,\u201d Psaki said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLook, I think the President\u2019s view is that there\u2019s a lot of passion, a lot of fear, a lot of sadness from many, many people across this country about what they saw in that leaked document,\u201d the press secretary continued when confronted with the fact that activists posted the justices\u2019 home addresses on a map. \u201cWe obviously want people\u2019s privacy to be respected. We want people to protest peacefully if they want to \u2014 to protest. That is certainly what the President\u2019s view would be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, Psaki said at the time she had no \u201cofficial U.S. government position on where people protest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Over the weekend, crowds gathered outside the homes of conservative Supreme Court justices and outside churches. In once incident, a Wisconsin pro-life organization\u2019s office was <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/09\/pro-life-roe-v-wade-madison-wisconsin-abortion-headquaters-fire\/\">vandalized<\/a> and set on fire.<\/p>\n<p>Outside the office, graffiti warned: \u201cIf abortions aren\u2019t safe then you aren\u2019t either.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Republicans slammed the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/04\/doocy-psaki-biden-unborn-baby-child\/\">Biden<\/a> administration Monday for its latest statement, with many suggesting it came too late and others saying the condemnation did not go far enough. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/04\/joe-biden-abortion-views-changed\/\">(RELATED:\u00a0How Biden\u2019s Abortion Stance Has Changed Over The Years)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe White House is playing word games,\u201d Republican Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TomCottonAR\/status\/1523660875164397568?s=20&#038;t=RKocJP4yJ0QolMfJWy3bXQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweeted<\/a>. \u201cBiden needs to clearly condemn the mob for *showing up at private homes* at night (with kids present) to intimidate the Justices.
