Wade.<\/p>\n<p>Associate Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett all reportedly support a leaked draft opinion <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/02\/supreme-court-roe-v-wade-samuel-alito-politico\/\">overturning<\/a> the 49-year-old ruling creating a constitutional right to abortion. During their confirmation hearings, all three justices refused to comment on whether or not they personally opposed Roe v. Wade. Rather, they pledged to respect previous rulings, with Kavanaugh <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2022\/05\/03\/1096108319\/roe-v-wade-alito-conservative-justices-confirmation-hearings\">referring<\/a> to Roe as \u201centitled the respect under principles of stare decisis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Notably, none of the justices pledged to uphold or overturn Roe v. Wade. Gorsuch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2017\/live-updates\/trump-white-house\/neil-gorsuch-confirmation-hearings-updates-and-analysis-on-the-supreme-court-nominee\/what-gorsuch-says-would-have-made-him-walk-out-the-door\/\">testified<\/a> that he \u201cwould have walked out the door\u201d if then-President Donald Trump requested a promise to reverse the ruling. However, that did not stop top Democrats, starting with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, from accusing the justices of misleading Congress about their views.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeveral of these conservative Justices, who are in no way accountable to the American people, have lied to the U.S. Senate, ripped up the Constitution and defiled both precedent and the Supreme Court\u2019s reputation,\u201d they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.speaker.gov\/newsroom\/5222-2\">said<\/a> in a statement shortly after the draft leaked.<\/p>\n<p>New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand compared the justices\u2019 testimonies to fraudulent corporate practices. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/03\/susan-collins-lisa-murkowski-roe-wade-neil-gorsuch-brett-kavanaugh\/\">(RELATED: GOP Senators Chastise Conservative Justices In The Wake Of Leak)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf a corporation put these kind of statements in their quarterly filings, they would be seen to be purposefully misleading and would be deemed fraud. So I think all their statements should be looked at very, very carefully,\u201d she told CNN\u2019s Jake Tapper on Sunday. \u201cI think they misled the Senate with the intention of getting their confirmation vote with the intention of overruling Roe.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\u201cI\u2019m very concerned these justices have crossed a line.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenGillibrand?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SenGillibrand<\/a> tells <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jaketapper?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@jaketapper<\/a> that conservative Supreme Court justices misled the Senate about Roe v. Pramila Jayapal, the chairwoman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/tv\/congresswoman-accuses-supreme-court-justices-of-lying-under-oath-on-roe-v-wade\/\">told<\/a> MSNBC\u2019s Jose Diaz-Balart that the leaked opinion is an \u201coutrage\u201d during a May 4 television appearance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt really undermines and delegitimizes the Supreme Court as a a body that can make decisions that are not just purely political, and Supreme Court Justices that, frankly, lied under oath when they were testifying to Congress on this question,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Left-wing protesters targeted the conservative justices almost immediately after Alito\u2019s draft was leaked, with the author forced to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/government\/us-supreme-courts-alito-cancels-conference-appearance-after-abortion-ruling-leak-2022-05-04\/\">cancel<\/a> a lecture appearance and reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/05\/07\/justice-samuel-alito-moved-undisclosed-location\/\">moved<\/a> to a safe house. Ruth Sent Us, a left-wing group, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/05\/left-wing-group-conservative-scotus-justices-roe-v-wade-leak\/\">released<\/a> a Google map with the home addresses of all six Republican-appointed justices, although a message on its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ruthsent.us\/\">website<\/a> reveals that Google took down the map \u201cdue to a violation of our Terms of Service and\/or policies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Protesters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/dc-md-va\/2022\/05\/07\/wooten-holway-protest-justice-kavanaugh-neighbor\/\">picketed<\/a> outside Kavanaugh\u2019s Maryland home Saturday night, while others <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MrAndyNgo\/status\/1523510513149399040\">interrupted<\/a> Sunday church services.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Several elected Democrats are accusing Republican-appointed Supreme Court justices of lying in their Senate testimony about their views of Roe v.
